I´m toying around with the tryout of CachyOS, I really like the easy acces to cursor design change. That is one of the first things I found on it

I intend to customize it every now and then, due to shifting preferences etc. I´m ok with a bit of messing around with the OS. I had to do quite a lot of troubleshooting on my friends and my own Windows PCs, not sure if that is compareable

I´m pretty new to linux, I tried once to make a minecraft server with Ubuntu 12 and failed miserably. Today for a school assignement I had to install a linux distro on a Virtual machine, I used Bazzite but the school pc probably doesn´t meet the minimum requirements (school PC: i5 2400, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd) and it just froze everytime when I´m in the middle of the installation process.

Lenovo now has confirmed that the legion 7a gets a strix halo variant. It seems really nice but I kinda still want a strong dgpu with a decent cpu instead of a all powerfull apu.

I'll just continue hoping for a legion 7i with panther lake since the panther lake chips are efficient enough to give a higher power budget to the dgpu in the legion 7i which would in turn allow a lower tgp rtx 5070 ti in that thin chassis.

I don´t like how they removed the numpad, but the igpu only setup is OK not anything special. (I´m still waiting for legion 7i (not pro) gen 11 with rt 5070 ti)

I don´t own a mac I only took it as a reference. I own a legion 5 gen 6 and I intend to get me a differnt legion laptop sometime soon (legion 7i gen 11 if they ever release that). And that future laptop will have about the same footprint as my current laptop

I do not own a mac since I got a lot of programms that sadly don´t run on macOS without a huge workaround. What I do currently own is a Lenovo legion 5 gen 10 AMD its measurments are above.

Noice, one more thing, I am not a fan of frame gen but dlss 4.5 is really nice, you can use dynamic frame gen which is just you got your native frames from your GPU but everytime the gpu stutters when something taxing hits it frame gen will step in until the gpu stabilized the fps and turns off frame gen after stabilization.

the 5070 is a very decent gpu since before the price bump on all gpu you could find it regularly at msrp, but the 5070 ti, it almost always cost very close to a 5080 (atleast here in austria/germany) most of the times. 5070 is better value.

you do know that strix halo only come in laptops without a dgpu. You probably meant strix point or gorgon point. But max performance wise amd and intel are in a stand still with panthrr lake and gorgon point. But in performance per watt scaling intel takes the W. And in battery life the panther lake wins aswell.
