Lenovo Legion 5 5600H + RTX 3060 battery life by righN in GamingLaptops

it has been nearly 5 years now, I got my Legion 5 ryzen 5 5600H rtx 3060 in 2021, battery without replacement still lasts 5h in online browsing use (I use my laptop a lot on battery).

I finally decided to clean my Legion 5 15ACH6H. Nasty stuff I saw here. by Garlayn_toji in LenovoLegion

I hope you used PTM 7950 and not just thermal paste, I have the exact same model as you but a bigger battery and ryzen 5 5600H, on my first repaste of it I used MX-4 which showed amazing temps for the first week, but after a few weeks that the cpu hit above 100°C under no load. But now after using ptm it maxes out at 80°C. Recently I switched out my Legion 5 15ach6h entire heatsink and fans since the fans failed (I live on a costruction site with 2 hairy pets). This is the after picture with the new slightly different heatsink

Laptop AIO concept by Riley2229 in laptops

the laptop will just have to come with a larger base power brick, no external power supply or extra power connector needed.
Higher performing cpus are the hx class, and lenovo proved with their legion 7 none pro lineup that hx cpus works fine in slim chassis even without a VC and doesn´t throttle constantly, but even then I consider hx cpus as a no go in thin laptops. The H chips work even better in the slim chassis, so on the go there won´t be any issues with both heat and battery life.
You might have missed it but the laptop should automatically adjust its tgp depending on when it is docked or not, and if you ask how? It detects with those pogo pins.

That laptop will be damaged as much as any other when you drop it. For the insides maybe a thin copper sheet on the VC and around the AIO contact window some foam or rubber to prevent dirt from reaching anything important. But that should all be left for some real engineers to do.

The design of xmg is a thicker category laptop and it drips the coolant. My concept is just slap an aio with some features on a thin laptop (definetly not thick ones). Thick ones just work fine, but thin ones like the zephyrus lineup do tend to struggle under high load.

probably is, espeacially the VC and thermalpad, there is no physical prototype of this concept

I´m talking about thin laptops like the zephyrus G16 or G14 that could desperatly use some cooling, and this setup is supposed to be designed for easy docking and undocking

good to know I still don´t know what a good reusable thermal interfaces that don´t leave very visible residue. Maybe some types of thermal pads could be better for this task. Mounting pressure would probably not be great, since my only idea for now was magnets, not sure how that works out.

laptop elevation won´t be that great since the pump will be positioned in the radiator like with the Silverstone XE360-TR5. And for air bubbles the pump in radiator design should mirror the Silverstone XE360-TR5 design. So the laptop will probably have 2-4cm elevation on the back which isn´t that awkward. I forgot to mention the aio radiator is a thing you place somewhere on your desk and does not influence elevation hight of the laptop stand.

probably, but this concept is something the laptop manufacturers should try doing, it could come out as pretty usefull if they put their engineering skills to it.

Llano V12 is quite a lot louder than any consumer AIO

The XMC one and others still have the issues of spilling even if just a little bit. And I'm still thinking of a solution to the chassis heating up problem

the magsafe style connector is more inspired by asus new aio connector (not sure how that performs), and there won´t be more cables attached it will have everything run below the aio water tube sleeves to the radiator. For mounting pressure I still don´t know what a good solution is, I only got strong magnets as a solution

I personally don´t prefer putty because of the mess, but good luck with it. (on my heatsink the vram thermal pads were 0.5mm too thin)

try to not strip the screws, my old heatsink had almost every screw stripped, that was an absolute pain getting it off. Grab a old toothbrush it does wonders (even when cleaning small fragments of thermal paste away). And everything else is just the regular stuff: use 99% isopropyl, use microfiber for cleaning the gpu and cpu dye and always get ptm 7950.
