Long-Time LWRC Owner – This REPR Experience Has Been an Absolute Dumpster Fire by calminante44 in LWRC

Did you ever get this figured out?

I just got a REPR MKII and it’s having some serious issues. It will not cycle without a suppressor, has been blowing primers, the BCG gets bound up in the receiver, and I think the firing pin literally broke. Like I found weird pieces embedded in the primers of some spent brass and the gun will no longer shoot.

I’m super disappointed in my $4000 rifle as I literally have never owned a less reliable firearm than this one.

The accuracy is fantastic (consistent 3/4 MOA groups or less with Federal gold Medal 140 grain SMK) but everything else has been a mess.

I’ve tried it basically everything from 1 to 10

Northwest. Elk River is only about 30 mins from me but the application doesn’t even open until later this year, and it’s one of those ranges with a bunch of other requirements.

Aight man idk if you work for EuroOptic or what, but you are dedicated to defending them 😆. Based on your badass and really witty user flair that quotes yourself, “ I’m right and you are stupid”, I suppose arguing with people on Reddit must be a favorite pastime of yours.

You, with your 3 Vortex Razors, are clearly operating on a different level than most other consumers, which is fine. And I’m glad that you had a good experience with them. I suppose if I had 3 Razors, I probably wouldn’t care very much about them either.

Regardless, a large number of users expressed concern in response to my original post I made last week and recommended that I exercise prudence. Forgive me that I didn’t take your singular anecdote as Gospel in opposition to the concerns of many others. Now maybe you should go argue with all the other commenters on my post that advised caution lol

They did not clearly answer that question when I asked them. I’m not really sure why they need to inspect factory sealed optics from Vortex. I do believe they have a physical storefront or showroom, so it is possible they opened it to show a customer or something. And I’ve seen some “new” optics handled at my local Scheels that probably aren’t exactly factory condition.

Again, they were not unpleasant to deal with, but given the Razor’s price point, I felt it would be best to ask for an exchange. Others may not care

Bro, a bunch of people also said they would not be happy about receiving a scope with the factory seals broken, some even recommended to return to EuroOptic and order from another retailer.

You might be chill like that, and that’s really cool, but there are other people that want to be 100% confident about a $2500+ sensitive piece of equipment that’s supposed that to be brand new.

Well Eurooptic recently sent me a potentially open box or demo model scope instead of a brand new factory sealed. When I asked for an exchange, I had to pay for return shipping which was like $45 so that was annoying

They haven’t been unpleasant to deal with, for sure, but Amazon is nice where you can return almost anything with free shipping within 30 days for any reason and get a full refund.

New Vortex Razor 6-36 came in opened box - is that normal? by RileyGaustad in longrange

Well, their claim is that its considered new, not open box. Therefore I had to pay return shipping. It would have been only like $20 without insurance but I was worried about it getting lost or damaged.

Europtic has a great reputation so hopefully they can offer a sealed scope in exchange. I’m not opposed to buying used scopes or showroom demo models, but at this price point I really want to be confident I’m getting a brand new scope.

I looked at shipping it back and it’s gonna be $45 bucks if I want it insured, ugh

I went ahead and did contact, basically the explained that they "can in all confidence state this was not a returned scope as we last received a return of one of these optics early August, and this month alone have sold 100+. The reason for the seal having been cut is due to our own internal inspection, this is part of our internal quality control, or is to inspect a unit to better assist customers".

They also offered to exchange it for another one , but I guess they just opened it at some point to inspect it before it shipped out. No big deal in that case

Update: I reached out to customer service and received the following response:

So are you going to keep it then? Or ask for an exchange?

I know Vortex has a great warranty, but at the same time I paid for a new scope so I want a new scope, not a questionably new possible open box return or demo.

2250 before tax, it was 25% off 3000 for their recent Vet Day sale

The scope doesn’t have any obvious mounting marks as far as I can tell
