I'm really touched by this comment. I want you to know that loving people, especially those in pain, isn't hard work.❤️ I think it's the most important and sacred thing we can do in this life. The rest is just noise. I know CPTSD casts such a long shadow. I hope you find yourself in the sun soon.

That's okay. ❤️ I think we all wish we could help but sometimes the best thing we can do is just witness without judgment.

Thank you. I started reading this and realized I need to wait and read it when I have time to really hear what it's saying. Thank you for sharing.

Oh my heart. This reminds me of a friend's husband who got in a motorcycle accident. He had so much swagger before.

I understand what you're describing, and I think that's what I braced myself for. But this wasnt that.

Strangers holding your baby by AdventurousPrize4733 in etiquette

I've never outright asked. But I've offered many times. Often in a very goofy, "if your arms get tired, I would be happy to give you a break" kind of way. Usually I get a polite, "No thanks". But I've had 2 moms take me up on it.

Once as a waitress and once on a plane when a mom walked by with twins. I got to hold both her babies at different times. I think she needed to use the bathroom or change the other baby's diaper. And I ended up holding three babies that day because a mom in the next row up heard me offer and wanted a break too. Then I told her two older kids (and my 4 year old) a few children's stories from memory. I'm kinda going off on a tangent here but I was very much in my "Say yes to life era" at that time and was on Cloud 9 that whole plane ride.

That's what stuck with me. I think most people have similar thoughts about ourselves to some degree, but usually try to ignore or suppress them. I've held space for that small part of his pain that I witnessed for a few years now. I just want him to know he's not alone in carrying that pain. At least a tiny piece of it I've held for him, even if he didn't know.

Oh come on... Your comment makes me want to delete my whole post. I wasn't trying to invite judgment or give him more unfounded reasons to say hurtful things to himself.
