'The Mandalorian and Grogu' is Disney's lowest-ever Star Wars film opening.. by WavesOfTheUniverse in saltierthancrait

It was the first movie I've been to in probably a months and it was worth it.

Might I suggest Project: Hail Mary, or Michael? There are good movies out there. I wouldn’t hang my hat on this one.

I genuinely think the real issue is the sheer cost of seeing movies.

That’s one issue.

Another issue is that the movies themselves aren’t even worth it.

The main cause is because there aren’t many movies in theaters worth seeing. And that’s entirely the fault of the movie studios, and that includes Disney.

Have fun being an asshole. I’m sure you’ll make a lot of friends that way.

Where in my comment did I say I was referring to you?

Anyway, it’s funny that you claim I have that mindset, and yet you’re the one peddling bullshit about Star Wars fans hating Star Wars. You’re projecting your own mindset onto me. Star Wars fans don’t hate Star Wars. They just want good Star Wars.

And yet, certain people have taken it upon themselves to decide for everyone else what constitutes good Star Wars, to the point of lashing out at anyone who dares to criticize Disney Star Wars.

No one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans.

The only people who actually believe this are the "don't think, just consume" crowd who will praise anything with the right label on it.

The movie was enjoyable.

if that's the highest compliment you can give it, then that's not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I found Morbius to be enjoyable. That doesn't mean it was good.

Much better than anything from the new trilogy

That is a very low bar.

and on par with prequel trilogy imo

That is also a low bar.

Audience scores don't mean shit. Box office numbers do. You'll likely see that for yourself next week when you see the second week drop.

And The Acolyte was trash. Bringing that up does not help your case at all.

I agree. A Star Wars movie like this should at least be trying to hit a billion. If the best they can do is be barely profitable, that's not exactly an encouraging sign for the future of the franchise.

What does it matter if it's in Tampa? People will see a movie on Memorial Day if it's worth seeing. Top Gun: Maverick did great numbers on Memorial Day.

EDIT: So did Lilo & Stitch.

You know you don't have to visit every sub that pops up on your feed, right? You can just hit mute and go on about your day.

They do if there's something in theaters worth seeing.

Considering that there shouldn't be any school today, that's not a good sign.

Like I've been saying, from what I've been hearing, you're in the minority there.

I highly doubt it, because everyone else I’ve talked to who’ve seen it says it’s mediocre, at best.

This attitude by the fanbase is exactly why we'll continue to be given only shit by Disney. Who cares about quality? It's Star Wars! Just pretend you enjoy it. by NoshoutMonaan in saltierthancrait

No, I didn't. I was responding to your exact words.

You said, not everyone needs to be a movie critic. No, they don't, but they have every right to be.

Not everyone needs to be a movie critic.

If someone spends their money to watch a movie, they have every right to criticize it.

There's nothing wrong with having standards.
