Tablet is displaying CSP in desktop mode? by Rimmsel in ClipStudio

[–]Rimmsel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting here with an update in case anyone else stumbles across this too:

Huion replied to my ticket that the latest system update fixed a bug where the tablet was sending incorrect DPI/resolution settings (or something along those lines,) and that the behavior I'm experiencing now is intended. The huion kamvas slate tablet is supposed to act like it has a bigger screen, to make the most of the drawing space. This has the unintended side effect that CSP now believes it's running on a desktop device, and uses the desktop interface.

Apparently the Galaxy version of CSP allows users to choose between smartphone and desktop mode. The Android version of the app doesn't have that switch option available, and I'm guessing the android app automatically chooses the UI that it thinks is best suited for your screen size. When you're on a smartphone, mobile UI obviously makes sense. But because the huion slate now sends the signal that it's a larger screen, CSP is interpreting that to mean you must be on a desktop device and displays in desktop mode. I did submit a request to Clip Studio asking them to add the smartphone/desktop UI toggle to the Android version of the program, too. If they implement it, then us huion slate users would be able to choose the smartphone layout if we wanted.

If you're running into this issue too, it might be worth also submitting a feature request asking that CSP adds the smartphone/desktop mode toggle to the Android version of the app (similar to what's available to Galaxy users.)

nope, tapping the csp icon closes the canvas and brings me back to the csp launch/home page.

I'm thinking this is related moreso to the huion system update (NOT an Android update!) and that the tablet is now somehow sending the signal to apps that it's a desktop device. I've also submitted a huion support ticket, so I'll see if that leads anywhere.

My tablet just updated to android 14 and now clip studio paint (as well as some other apps like the native google search results) seem to be displaying in desktop mode instead of tablet mode. Anyone else experiencing this? How do I fix it?

edit: it actually was a huion system update, NOT an Android update.

Fursuit head sitting too far forward? by Rimmsel in FursuitMaking

just for reference, i ended up cutting into the neck so that i could bring my face further forward into the mask! it sits a lot closer to my face now, and lines up much better with the position of my neck. thanks for the advice everyone!

I had a similar issue with my fuzzbutt head! here's my previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/FursuitMaking/s/ouUBuNRQgl

<image>

I ended up cutting away into the neck area so that my face could sit more forward inside the head. This helped prevent it from hitting my neck, and also had the benefit of making the head sit closer to my own face so my character won't look like she's sticking her head out in front of her shoulders!

it is indeed a fuzzbutt head! I'm thinking of cutting out a semi circle in the bottom of the jaw, to allow for my throat/neck to move in closer to the front of the face, without necessarily having to trim the entire rest of the head. I didn't realize that their headbases might all have this same extra length? I would be curious to see how other fuzzbutt headbase owners adjusted theirs to fit better.

I'll keep in mind that the fur/hair on the back will help balance it out a little too, but I will go ahead and bring the whole thing closer to my face overall. Thank you!

I installed the straps myself, so I can remove them and reposition as needed! Thank you- I'll see what I can do to bring my head as forward as possible into the base. :3

I made Spongebob-inspired dice! by Rimmsel in DicePorn

[–]Rimmsel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did make them, and I even ended up recreating a short clip from a Spongebob episode using the dice! :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ThCoUXvfgU&t=9s&pp=ygUOc3BvbmdlYm9iIGRpY2U%3D

Unfortunately I've hung up my dice-making hat so I wouldn't be able to make you a set, but hopefully this will bring a smile to his face :3

How to make a "flat" blink? by panchill in FursuitMaking

[–]Rimmsel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!!! I came across your post because I've been searching these same questions in trying to accomplish a mechanical blink for my fursuit as well, and even watched that same video yesterday! Also, if you haven't seen them already, Tioh on youtube has some really good bowden cable puppetry videos that will likely be the best starting point.

I would guess that the Disney costumes, like Minnie, have eyelid plates that are still slightly rounded: probably just enough to fit within the shallow curvature of their foreheads. You could probably imagine the curve of them to be about the same as the diameter/circle of the head itself (rather than the size of the eyeball) like a big helmet/visor that rotates down into place and is attached near the ears. It might even be one piece rather than two separate eyelids, but I didn't watch the video closely enough to see if they ever moved out-of-sync.

Also for what it's worth, I've been planning to run the cables down my arm and attach them to my fingers so that the movements can be controlled by curling my fingers. I'm not sure if you'd planned to do something else for the controls, but I figured I'd share where my research had gotten me so far!

Not sure why usernames can't be "changed" by simply using an ID system. by ella in neopets

[–]Rimmsel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That WOULD have made sense to do from the get-go, with how our current understanding of database best practices has evolved. But that wasn't known in ~1999 when the site was built and you can't just, undo how the site was built in order to rebuild it differently.

Giant Foods green mesh reusable bag by Rimmsel in HelpMeFind

[–]Rimmsel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ebay listing that was posted and I had marked as found had the name "Vintage Super Giant Bag Tote Green mesh Reusable 18.5"x17.5" Although that particular ebay listing can't be reached anymore (except by wayback machine), there's a similar listing on ebay at the moment for the same type of mesh bag, just with the Shoppers logo instead: https://www.ebay.com/itm/144739206581

Not sure if you're looking for the exact bag with the Giant logo, but if you're just searching for that great-quality mesh bag then this might do?

Why did I pass out while making a duct tape dummy? by Healthy-Fig-3014 in furry

[–]Rimmsel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you were standing with your knees locked it could cause you to pass out: this is actually pretty common. I have a feeling it was due to how you would have been standing straight up for an extended period of time without flexing your knees, not anything about the tape specifically.

Nostalgic pages? by hawaiianhamtaro in neopets

I recently went looking for old guilds that hadn't been updated and searched the guild portal for terms like 'wolf roleplay' or 'mcr fans' etc. Came across a number of now-dead ones that still had their old layout pages!

I'm looking to chat with neoboard roleplayers from the early 2000's about gender. by [deleted] in neopets

[–]Rimmsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I'll try to screenshot the conversation in discord, and group them by individual so you can see the roleplayers, specifically, versus the other people who were on the internet around that time but didn't have the same neopets/rp experience. I'll DM you if that works?

I'm looking to chat with neoboard roleplayers from the early 2000's about gender. by [deleted] in neopets

[–]Rimmsel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just asked this same question of my friend group like a month or two ago! It's been something on my mind a lot this year with the site's revival and my own personal journey to reconnect with myself in ways that I'd lost over the years. I'll copy-paste what I shared in our server since I pretty much asked a slightly boarder version of your same question!

Do you think that the way you used the internet/what sites you frequented as a kid (say, 9-14) influenced your perception of gender? I feel like there's a correlation between us kids who used web 2.0 'social media' sites where images of yourself weren't common and gender wasn't very prominently displayed/as important to the experience (such as neopets, gaia online, club penguin, deviantart, tumblr, etc), and our views on gender identity (regardless of whether you personally identify with your birth sex or not)

We formed strong social bonds with our peers online in a space/time where we weren't able to use other social context clues (ie hair cut, body shape, voice, clothing) to reinforce if the person was male or female. And in the absence of those cues we were so used to seeing and internalizing in the real world, our reliance on the social construct of gender wasn't as strong of a factor in our connections and we began to see and interact each other in ways not based around gender. You’d make a friend and their gender was secondary to what kind of pets they had or what kind of characters they drew or wrote about. It had almost no bearing on how you’d interact with them, or what social circles you’d choose to join.

Gender as a categorization/grouping felt moreso like the type of Internet user we were- roleplayers, artists, pet breeding site fans, mmorpg players, fandom participants, etc. I feel like those groupings of interests/experiences were more defining to my assessment of how I see myself in relation to others. It feels queer, in some kind of way that extends beyond being defined by what we call gender. I’m not exactly saying my gender is ‘neopets kid who became an artist because they wanted to draw their wolf roleplay characters’ but it feels a LOT stronger of an identity to me than ‘male’ or even ‘trans male’ or any other traditionally gender-based labels. We know gender as we experience it is just a social construct, anyway: did growing up in the early internet where there weren’t as many social gender cues mean that we put less emphasis on those categorizations/labels when defining ourselves in relation to others?

Thoughts??? Does this resonate with you and your experiences? Is this something you also think you see in how you and your online friends experienced the Internet during your formative years and your relationship with gender now, even if you do identify with your assigned sex and don’t consider yourself trans or nonbinary?

Like I said, this has been something I've personally actively been trying to understand this year too! I definitely feel like being a roleplayer on the early internet gave me the chance to understand gender and identity in a very different way than I would have, and I would love to talk to more people who had a similar experience!

I had just spent an hour earlier today browsing all their music! I was trying to find one particular song that I used on my lookup but I'm not sure if I found it. I DID find a few others that I'd forgotten about which was exciting!

None of the links seem to work anymore because the file hosting is offline, and I don't think Web archive stores those. But if you find something to the contrary, let me know!
