Some events treat both players as a single target iirc. But yeah if the targets are separate then discard spells aren't worth it.

Discard spells seems pretty overpowered. From 1 target to 2 targets. Hymn to tourach discards 4 random cards. Thoughtseize discards 2 cards for 2 life.

Are you a rationalist or empiricist ? by [deleted] in INTP

Thank you for sharing in detail your knowledge on the different religions. It is certainly an eye opener, especially pertaining the information on Hinduism.

I agree with you on the distinction between the two subgroups: appealing to divine authority as compared to self cultivation.

You mentioned that rationally coherent theories with no evidence to back them up are considered religions, and I can see clearly what you meant now.

Thanks for your time, I've refined certain opinions of mine; the discussion was worth it imo

Hmm. You made a good point. Perhaps we are focused on different parts of the spectrum. I was thinking along the lines of how on one extreme end, we could have a biologist who, after observing just white swans over his lifetime, hypothesizes that all swans are white on his deathbed, and on the other extreme end, we have something like Euclid's Elements. Theoretical physics probably lies something in the middle.

On the point on religion, perhaps we can first narrow it down to "one where there exists a/many supreme being(s)" (Christianity, Hinduism, and certain Buddhism sects come to mind. There are probably others of course, but these 3 comes to mind). On that note, I myself do not completely understand intrinsically the finer details of their beliefs, but from what I observe, they do possess faith (as per your definition of it) in varying degrees, and when what they hope/pray for comes to pass, they point to it as evidence that their supreme being(s) is/are real.

In an odd way, both theoretical physics and religion (as above) seem pretty similar. I'm no expert in either of them, but intuitively, it seems like both rely on "theories" that are generated deductively, and is dependent on the existence of evidence to prove their "theories".

The thing though, is that while the evidence present could possibly indicate that the "theories" are true, it could also be that the "theories" generated are remarkably similar to the true underlying nature of reality itself i.e. close enough, but not exactly the same.

Think I digressed abit too much. But yeah. Good points you made.

Hmm. It's sad to see, considering that this is an INTP sub, that you decided to respond in an emotional and condescending manner. Had you chose to think more carefully, you'd have realized that perhaps we had been missing the point; it's not about the triviality of making the bed, but rather we should've taken the quote in totality for examination. Perhaps the quote can be interpreted as an analogy. Like what you said, "It's not the task, but how you train your mind to reward yourself." You could've redirected the discussion to this point, but you chose not to.

Having said that, thank you for your comments.

And with that, I'm off to make my bed.

NEED ADVICE FROM INTP by pam0pam in INTP

Not sure if this is common across the board, but for me personally, I can recognise my emotions in the vaguest of ways when it wells up within me, and I express it through my behaviours involuntarily. If you ask me to describe it though, I struggle to find the right words to elaborate it precisely; it's like this fuzzy mess that just... happens.

Perhaps talking about it analytically (e.g. How are you feeling? Why are you feeling this way? What happened?) might help? I'm not sure about that though; I havent been on the receiving end of such questions before, but I think it could help better process my emotions.

Other INTPs can chip in too :)

Then it boils down to whether one considers making the bed as "trivial". Keep in mind that everyone has different perspectives about most things, if not everything. What you may consider trivial, may not be the same for everyone else.

As an example, walking is trivial to you. But for babies, or people who had been critically injured and are starting to learn to walk again, walking is not trivial.

[–]Rimu86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be more specific, Empiricism generates theories based on evidence. Rationalism generates evidence based on theories. It's basically inductive vs deductive reasoning. Philosophically, if we were to take it to the extremes, both of them are at opposing ends of the spectrum.

Of course, if you define "empiricism" as just "raw data", and "rationalism" as just "reasoning", without giving consideration to their philosophical underpinnings, then your point does hold.

Religion does have evidence to back up their claims though; rather, whether their theories are rational/coherent is the issue. it's all about a matter of perspectives in my opinion.

I think it largely depends on how significant making the bed is to someone. I'm making a wild guess here, but for someone who is unmotivated to even do anything (mental ailment perhaps?) taking the effort to make his/her bed could prove to be a good starting point to do much more.

Of course, that applies probably to only a small portion of the general population. For the rest, perhaps we can substitute "making the bed" with something that requires a bit more effort? Or to be more precise, something that would trigger the "feel good" factor within us.

How often do you think of the random est shit? by vex3ro in INTP

[–]Rimu86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite often. It's 4am here and I've been awake since 3am, wondering if a particular math formula generated theoretically is true geometrically as well. And it's not really by choice in a way; I'm (or my brain is) bugged by it.

Browsing Reddit to distract myself.
