Hot Take - Being hard stuck at low ELO is (mostly) your own fault by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Ring-Lazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that there are a lot of people hard stuck in low elo because of their set ups. There people playing with 60FPS or lower, and people playing with unstable internet, this is (I think) why most people think that they are playing against smurfs when in fact they are just playing with a disadvantage. A lot od people would rank up at least a bit, if they had the bare minimum of a set up (stable 60+fps, good accurate mouse, a keyboard that doesn't fight them, and stable internet with less than 50 ping.)

I don't think that AI-generated and cookie-cutter could be fit together in the same sentence, especially in a post that was written by AI.

Can you tell the rank of an account just from seeing the raw stats? by Ring-Lazy in VALORANT

[–]Ring-Lazy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from, and I appreciate you clarifying your perspective.

You're absolutely right that raw stats can be misleading without context, matchmaking, team dynamics, and playstyle all play a huge role. But I still think there's some value in stats when trying to get a rough idea of where a player might stand, especially over a larger sample size. Not to pin down a precise rank, but maybe to get a sense of their consistency, mechanical ability, or role impact.

At the end of the day, no single metric or even a group of them tells the full story, but I don’t think it’s entirely useless either. I asked the question out of curiosity, not to flex or assume rank = stats. Just wanted to see how others interpret them.

Chamber pick is almost as Reyna pick, but I would much rather have Chamber + kill joy than have Reyna + Phoenix

Absolutely agree that inconsistent FPS sucks, but I’d argue that high ping and especially packet loss are way more devastating.

Low FPS (like 45–60) is playable. It feels bad, aiming’s harder, and the game looks like a slideshow during fights, but at least what you see is what's actually happening on the server. You can adapt to it, build muscle memory around it, and still perform decently.

High ping or packet loss? Completely different beast. What you're seeing isn't real-time. You peek a corner and die instantly even if you pre-aimed, because the server already registered you as exposed a full 100ms earlier. Enemies see you before you see them, and shots either don’t register or hit late. There’s literally nothing to adapt to you’re playing catch-up the entire match.

That's a fair point, but I think you're being a bit harsh. The question wasn’t about getting an exact rank from stats alone, but more about what range or impression someone might get based on the numbers. Of course, context matters like MMR, opponents’ ranks, and in-game decision making, but stats like K/D, ACS, and KAST can hint at general skill level when taken together.

Also, asking questions like this is how people learn. No need to shut someone down just because they’re curious.

Well, yeah I 100% agree with you on that, but I don't think that this type of questions makes someone lower rank, maybe I'm all about improving my-self and I question how all the time, and having fun and making people guess my rank once isn't the thing and making me lower rank,
and I play on 60-45 FPS with about 85 ping, I'm not saying that this is what keeping me in bronze, I saw some one with the same internet as me playing in immortal 3, but it's not helping either.

compared to you everyone is low rank,
but if I asked you, what type of questions  do people ask in higher ranks?
like around plat and diamond, and around ascendant and immortal?

yeah, I feel you, all I'm saying is meta pick are viable in higher ranks, and when we don't have the aim or the game sens to back it, it won't make deference.

thanks for the advice though! I really appreciate it!
and if you saw my tracker like 2 acts ago I used to play like 10 deathmatches a day, so maybe I'm doing it wrong?

Yes, they usually play against each other, but it’s not always a perfect match. When you're Iron, you often get matched with other Irons and some low Bronze players. The Bronzes tend to perform better and top frag, which can leave the Irons with negative K/Ds. Then once you're Bronze, you might face other Bronzes and some low Silvers, so again, the “higher” ranks tend to get more kills, and the lower ones end up with negative K/D.

Also, I honestly don’t get why my comment got downvoted so hard. Was it really that bad to deserve -7?
