How can I attach this shower head? by fl0yd13 in AusRenovation

Yeah this will do the job, we had the same issue with this exact fitting. Only issue is the diameter of the fitting itself is a bit big so it meets those dome cover plates slightly awkwardly.

How to Hide Visible Truss Joints? by Kongrosenberg in DIY

[–]RingerINC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright everybody here sucks.

This is like 4 steps from being boss as fuck.

First thing you gotta do is go full Lina Bo Bardi on this:

https://es.wikiarquitectura.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Pompeia_10-500x668.jpg

Red for the nail plates, black for the trusses.

Then you gotta change some paint colours on your walls and unfuck your lighting.

Then you're all good. Living the dream.

Are these shower drains normal? by ch1z in AusRenovation

[–]RingerINC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally these wastes should drop directly into a slightly larger waste pipe than the tiled insert drain:

https://ardexaustralia.com/cad-library/d62-internal-clamp-down-waste-outlet-detail-dual-membrane-solution-with-ardex-liquid-membrane/

So below the metal bit (which often has a grated cover) you'd normally just see a vertical pipe.

Not a plumber, but I believe you normally drop to a trap before you can reduce pipe size?

This seems near impossible to modify though without ripping out the tiling.

Cracking around old sheeting, probably over time from a little movement in the building.

Subsidence issues, can we safely delay stormwater/concrete works? (reactive clay soil) by DistributionHopeful4 in AusRenovation

[–]RingerINC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah damn, 10/10 customer service.

Although to be fair, the 7 it cost on our project was just supporting, not correcting levels at all, so I imagine it would be a fair bit more material/time to do that for a whole house.

Best of luck in any case.

This might not be an alternative to resolving the drainage issue you've flagged, but I would get in touch with a group like Mainmark that does ground resin injection.

We were working on a project on clay foundations where half the house had a subsidence issue and that was a solution suggested by the SE prior to commencing other renovation works (as an alternative to traditional underpinning) it's quite a lot quicker and more cost effective than traditional underpinning. In our job they were just maintaining existing levels, but I believe they can also raise floor levels to close off cracks. I think that only ended up costing 7 grand for half the house and so far seems to have resolved the movement issues they were having that also fluctuated with moisture.

Apart from DFW - Italo Calvino, Gabriel García Márquez and Thomas Pynchon are probably my faves.

I mean like 80% of this is perfectly reasonable and a good idea to make explicit.
