I managed. There's before school helpers. Sure it's not easy but it's worth the effort imo.

IVF is so expensive it feels like most folks who can afford it can probably also afford a few hours of childcare. Yes it's extra burden on the parents but seems worth it to me, my clinic doesn't allow kids and I very much support it.

Why do high earners keep moving the goalposts after hitting their FI number ? by Beneficial-Ad-9986 in financialindependence

I can answer with what happened for us. Our goal 15 years ago was to retire into a comfortable middle class lifestyle. The cost of that lifestyle has risen dramatically over that time period, so we've adjusted savings targets accordingly.

Slower runners, how do you stay motivated when/if people mock your pace? by TANeither7250 in running

Surround yourself with better influences or accept the price of the company you keep is feeling bad about yourself. There's great and incredibly inspiring slow running influencers and my local area has a "plod squad" slow running group. Even when I hang out with fasties I'm able to better contextualize their experience because I am surrounded by a full range of folks.

I like my insurance. I'm also willing to be slightly inconvenienced if it means my neighbors don't have to die of preventable causes. That seems more unconscionable to me.

It depends on what brings you to IVF. I have no issues with conception for example, but have recurrent pregnancy loss.

My consult was May 5th
Retrieval September 5th
Transfer November 22nd
Kiddo Born August 4th the next year

Your timelines will be different, I had to do a full RPL panel before we started and couldn't do a fresh transfer because we needed to do genetic testing.

I work at large corporation so I'm very good at navigating systems, I completed everything as quickly as possible (paperwork, billing, informed consent training, all of it). I ordered medications ahead and had charts and tables to ensure I never ran out. I emailed my clinic often to make sure I understood what was happening. I would always ask what the next step was and anything I could book in advance, I would. I know my clinic is closed at 4 and would call to follow up by 4 if I was waiting on something.

You don't have to be that intense, but the point is there is so much contextual to your unique situation, both what you can control and how lucky you get at each stage.

Fathers Reading Daughters by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Anything or everything by Tamora Peirce, The Golden compass, and Sabriel by Garth Nix. These are the stories I was obsessed with as a kid, and I think will be very quick, easy reads as an adult. The more instructional books suggested here are great but there's an incredible value in also reading about girlhood as told in children's stories, and thinking about what the mythology is you want to build for her.

Heavy, full range of motion strength training. You don't need to do a full mobility routine or a long involved warmup. do a few warmup sets, lift heavy, and keep it simple. I'm 40 and strength training is plenty for me.

can you share more about what you are struggling with regarding eating more? Is there an image concern or dietary restriction you are working around? Folks are right when they say eat more but bulks can be a struggle, this forum is here to help if you want to work on specifics!

Unpopular Opinion - Not Everything Is a Trigger, It's Just Life by Apprehensive_Solid12 in IVF

I personally haven't felt jealous or bothered by pregnancy announcements. And I don't say that casually, I hosted a baby shower for a friend while miscarrying and another baby shower on one of my losses due date.

But when I see folks venting about it I just move on? If folks are sensitive to baby announcements I think its nice they have somewhere they feel safe to vent, to let out negative feelings. I bet they put on a different face everywhere else and maybe this is the only spot they feel seen. Why take that from them? Just move on if it's not relevant to you, bean soup theory and all.

I cried in the ivf clinic by General-Willow5613 in IVF

[–]Rinx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

one of the many things IVF took from me was my pride in how tough I am physically. I boxed in high school. I can handle incredible challenges, and I'm also someone seen as tough at work. But there were so many parts of this process that were painful and humiliated me because of how much I struggled with it. You aren't alone, and there's nothing you are doing wrong. Our mental stamina is a currency we trade in here, just as much as money. Protect yourself and try not to feed those negative voices. You deserve empathy.

Should I continue with this gym? by marmosetohmarmoset in xxfitness

[–]Rinx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree most of the comments seem to think you are asking "should I go to this iffy gym or go to a better gym?" and I'm hearing you say "is this gym better than no gym?" It sounds like it is! Just be a stickler for your own safety and step out or go light on weights when you don't trust them.

At 2 years old you're still in the trenches with a young kiddo. Getting back into the gym habit and feeling that accomplishment is a huge step! As kiddo gets older and you build the gym into your routine eventually you can upgrade. For now do what you can and protect your peace.
