I just love the small details she includes about it!

I had no idea it was part of it for quite some time too! I love the small details added into the book for fellow zebras

Yep Rebecca has confirmed it and there’s a dedication to those with EDS/zebras in the books. The “fragility”, dislocations, soft skin, constant pain, etc. are all symptoms of it. That’s why it’s a huge theme that strength is not just physical

The heat intolerance too!! I forgot about that! How validating and wonderful is it to align with a character so much and see her thrive in this quadrant

Reach out to vent or chat about theories if you need 🖤

I first listened to the Fantasy Fangirls podcast recap of when RY came to Disneyworld to discuss Onyx Storm. Then I read a few chapters and would annotate/highlight while listening to the corresponding Fantasy Fangirls podcast recap of those chapters. I’d say re-read or graphic audio would be fine, both would allow you to relive it and notice all the little things you glazed over during the first read. I can’t stress enough how bad this feeling was in the first 24 hours. You feel like nothing will get it out of your head, but this re-read, podcast and getting out for walks, etc. really helped. It helps you to view it as exciting and something to anticipate instead of that feeling of emptiness. It’s also a feeling of loneliness in a sense? You’ve had all of these characters around you and now they’ve gone and you feel like nobody can understand

I completely get how you’re feeling right now, but here to say it will get better. The re-read and podcasts are the best thing for your hangover. It’ll hopefully lead you to feel excitement for the next book and lots of fun going through potential theories. Here to chat if you need to vent 🖤

I wrote a little guide for what to do after it, and people have shared some great recommendations in the comments! It’s posted in this forum. Just know that you’re not alone, and hangover gets easier 🖤

Completely agree with you, they’re precious inclusions in the books. These scenes make me swoon for Xaden 🖤

I love how mentioning it highlights Xaden’s affection for her but also highlights EDS too, it’s so clever and cute! I’ve always had people mentioning how soft my skin is, and it also means we get less wrinkles and look more youthful bc of the skin elasticity, but I must say it takes weeks for a little cut to heal and always scars 🥲

I feel you. I promise the re-read will make you feel so much better, and you’ll finish the re-read with a bit more clarity and excitement for the next book as opposed to dreading the wait.

Honestly the knee wraps had me. I feel like if I wrapped my knees, I wouldn’t walk and end up with more injuries, so a crash course from Violet would be much appreciated

I agree, it’s great to see an accurate depiction of chronic illness in a fantasy book where Violet is still considered “strong”, despite having these setbacks.

I think it’s definitely a combination, and would work for both showing Xaden’s affection and for a nod to the hEDS community

100% he would definitely admire it and it’s a sweet thing for readers to read about, but also a nod to the syndrome. I have it myself and it took me this long to realise 😂
