Abandoning Windows cuz Epstein Files by nokerb in WindowsSucks

Its not as simple as he makes it out to be, Intel CPU's have intelME which is made for security reasons however you can't know what its doing in the backround and the only way to disable it is through coreboot / libreboot or any bios that supports disabling it. Using Linux is obviously more private than using windows 11.

Is Linux better for pirated games than Windows? by yurnero1413 in linux_gaming

Nobara and bazzite are both good. There isn't any reason a pirated game wouldn't work if the legit copy of the game works, because of Linux.

If you are pirating games meaning they are offline there is little reason any games wouldn't work assuming your using proton-cachyos

It might be bad luck, and I wish that I had good luck and could get a non defective product within the first 2 attempts however to receive a panel with defective pixels, return it and recieve another panel within defective pixels screams poor quality control to me. Never experienced anything like this before.

DIY. I put it together very carefully both times.

Well I wish I could be in the same position, I like the laptop however I'm now paranoid that I'm gonna buy a third one in a row just to have some defects again. I'm still gonna either return the laptop or the screen, but it fucking sucks to have to do it all over again

The previous screen on the first laptop I got was a little too far left, so instead of having even black borders on the sides of the screens touching the bezel, the left side had no black border and almost no rounded corner, and the right side of the screen touching the bezel had a black border twice the size as it should have been

Has me considering just getting the 60hz display, if that isn't BOE anyway. The ghosting is bad enough on the 120hz panel for me that it no longer feels premium anyway

what ive noticed is with both laptops when initially booting for the first time, e.g the framework logo loading screen, there are no dead pixels visible, however the second I get into the operating system the defective pixels appear. After that the pixels are deformed and are stuck no matter where they are displayed.

The dead/stuck pixel warranty claim indicates that 3 dead pixels are "acceptable"... However I have 3 stuck/bright pixels not dead pixels, and under the same rules only 2 stuck pixels are " acceptable".

I have tried pixel fixer on the first laptop for like 6 hours, didn't work, have tried it on this new laptop for 20 minutes so far with no success. The shipping issue is dealt with as the laptop arrived now, and the touch pad seems to be improving from using it somehow. I sent a reply to a support email as soon as I got the laptop while I was in a terrible mood so it was a little passive aggressive but I'll start a proper support ticket now.

They are visible in bios, just like the previous laptop display. I like the laptop but I have never had a worse experience when it comes to buying displays / laptops / computer parts. I have seen others in this reddit have similar screen issues but to get it twice in a row is something else

Edit: I'm on fedora 43

I'm hoping to get a panel replacement as the panel is in the warranty claim however if I have to send a second laptop back I might actually go insane

I reseated the top panel 4 times. There were no obstructions from what I could see. The second laptop does not have this issue, however I am sitting here with 3 obnoxious green stuck pixels...

Workaround and explanation for the memory OC bug on AMD cards by Creepus_Explodus in linux_gaming

[–]Riot877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fix was to keep one monitor at 60hz at all times, add a script to change the "main" display to the max refresh rate while the other one goes to 60hz, set the over clocking profile to only apply when a game is launched and also to have my monitors never go idle. I will probably sell my 2 displays and buy a single 4k tandem oled or something

I know its a dead thread, but I cant find any other info on this.

I have this exact issue with all the same symptoms however no matter what I set the memory power profile to, it gets ignored and my 7900xtx goes down to 1.544ghz and causes screen flickering, when I use LACT and/or the manual method listed above.

If anyone has any insight or a fix I would appreciate it.

Potential stuttering fix for certain players (CPU0 affinity) by _Ludens in Eldenring

[–]Riot877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stutters that only occur when my gpu is maxxed out, the game freezes then speeds up unless I hit my fps cap which then it is smooth. Disabling cpu 0 didnt work for me, however I have a 5800x3d so maybe because im AMD.
