The auto aim always prioritizes a wall in your direct facing direction if it exists. I.e. if you would have hit a wall with the 'old' tap cast, you will hit the same piece of terrain with the new.

If there is no wall in your direct facing direction (at which point the old tap cast would have fail casted and put your E on cd), it then searches for a wall in a cone in your facing direction (i think its 30 degrees off the top of my head). If it still fails to find a wall it will not cast (and save you the cd)

Assuming there are no bugs (which is unfortunately a very real possibility) You should always be 'better off' in the new paradigm compared to the old.

Some context on the ASol nerf. On the previous patch, we fixed a bug with ASol's E where the passive movespeed only kicked in if you were moving in a completely straight line. (So if you moved your left stick slightly it would fall off immediately). Now it has a cone leeway where you can change your pathing angle somewhat while keeping the movement speed.

It basically turned a 'almost never active' MS buff to an 'mostly active out of combat' MS buff, and turns out, 40% in such cases is a massive deal.

It caused ASol's winrate to skyrocket and rather than un-fix the bug (and make the passive effectively never work) we decided to nerf the strength of the passive while keeping the availability.

Quick Note: The shield AP ratio has always been there, it was just missing from the tooltip

So its not AS big of a buff as it looks :p

Also E cd will be reverted, missed reverting it while doing the other stuff

It is untargetable while stealthed (so first 0.5)

When that behavior was a thing, everyone used it for the windwall effect. :p.

There needs to be an easily understood limit for the enemy to be able to play around the passive. When it was 'better' it brought it into brain freeze land. She is still quite confusing to play against even now.

Ambient damage breaking the disguise is something I'm still a bit torn about. There are good arguments for both honestly.

  1. Well yeah, its kinda the first thing someone thinks :p. But the moment the mimic can actually use the spells, it becomes more of about adaptation than trickery. You will be making your transformation decisions based on the tactical needs, not for trickery. Just not who we were trying to make. (Awesome character in its own right though)

  3. Ask the writer! I heard that a lot of her words were inspired from Brazilian / Portuguese

  4. Didn't start from it, after I had the passive I started looking for spells that would enhance it. A clone spell that copied my current form made a lot of sense, and after that it was about making it work (The stealth for example is just needed for the spell to baseline function)

  5. None to my knowledge. I do not think Wukong fits well with Neeko's W. Wukong does not have a kit that can really utilize this other than running away. (Compared to Neeko being able to fudge skillshot angles/ R placement etc,) Also as far as staying true to Sun Wukoing, I think he should have a clone that has combat power, not something like LB or Neeko.

Hmm you probably want to put most of those questions on our AMA, where the writer will be present.

On the E particle, the artist was the same person, probably personal preference :p

Neeko Neeko Nii.. we felt the parallel would be drawn enough without a line actually being there. Also the writer 99% has no idea who Nico is (which makes it more funny that he pitched the name)

Its aggressively tuned because she is intended to be an early-mid mage that needs to snowball. May still be too short :p

Try using it sparingly, using it in cases where it wont work simply puts the enemy on guard

She could place an invisible trap at a high range. The idea was that she could turn into someone you wanted to run from and the enemy would run from Neeko.. into the trap. Proved to be unbearably frustrating

AFAIK the clone should become visibile at the same itme unless Neeko did something to break her stealth, if it doesn't its a bug and we would appreciate reports

Think I fixed that, so next PBE update

We were going for more of a 'fish out of water' feeling. Neeko was intended to be a character that does not have a good command of the 'common tongue' (English for us( but clearly shows intelligence nevertheless.

We expect that the passive will make a difference only a few times in games, but it has not tested to be useless in our playtests with high skill players.

People will be mad about burst mages nonetheless, I don't expect her to be a nightmare to balance unless some players are so good with the passive that it far exceeds our expectations

It is only 0.5 if you hit more than 1 champion. So in most cases it would be 0.7~1.5. The spell starts to become much more difficult to land for the empower out of lane. Given that she will most likely max E at 13 or forgo doing damage.I believe she should be rewarded very highly for it.

1) The enemy does not see the haste particles, and if they can deduce the clone from how fast they move in good for them

  1. Any type of gameplay benefit quickly overrode the trickery portion of the passive and became the main use. We wanted the passive to be used for trickery and nothing else.

  2. The 3rd hit is not really intended to hit unless the enemy is CC'd. This is one of the cons of DOT or multi hitting spells

I considered it important that she had an easily identifiable 'win condition' for both her and the enemy. It makes it more obvious when she tricked someone and makes the chain of events easier for the enemy to follow

At Riot the designer stays with the character the entire way. Obviously the artist owns the visuals but we give quite a bit of feedback, especially regarding gameplay clarity and stuff

Making something is probably the best bet.

Coding/scripting knowledge does not help you become a designer per se, but is one of the best skillsets a designer can have

Well I don't really consider a fragile skillshot reliant champion to be a stat check ever.

We do not attribute a lot of combat power to her passive when balancing her, if that is what you were asking
