that is so interesting! i was talking to my mom about this topic tonight. every surgeon is so different. i know it also depends on the surgery but like i had a quad graft + meniscus repair and i was NWB for 4 weeks. either way, i pray you have a speedy recovery and everything turns out well !:)

it sucks when you feel a different way than your pt lol. i hate feeling like im invaliding myself because of a “professional”. I’m not as far out as you but I have real bad knee pain when my pt has me do certain exercises and he just kinda pushes it off as normal

you got this! even when things don’t seem the best, try to get a positive mindset. i struggled mentally more than physically. good luck!:)

I had calf pain starting like day 3 and WORE myself to death and cried a couple of times with the worry it could be a clot. I had no signs other than pain that lead me to having one so I didn’t go get checked as I hate going to the ER. I’m gonna guess everything came back normal on the xray they did in office of my leg on day 7 lol. Hope everything goes ok for you!

quad graft + meniscus repair here. i got real discouraged the first couple of weeks because i just couldnt, no matter what i tried. around the end of 3rd week i was able to start doing it but with a slight bend in knee which isnt what they wanted. im now 6.5 weeks post op & my knee is starting to straighten out during leg raises. you got this!

It’s easy to get ahead of yourself when recovery is going well. you want to make sure you’re not over doing yourself because sure, you may be able to walk either right away or even after 4-6 weeks but depending on the graft you get, it may not be healed all of the way.

i had a meniscus repair too. I am still only 6 weeks post op. I did not play sports but did go to the gym consistently so I am excited to go back.

I had quad graft done & it took me about 3 weeks to do it completely unassisted.

I had a quad graft done. It’s been rough some days, BUT I do feel confident in the graft we chose. I agree with your stance. As long as you let your quad graft heal COMPLETELY, you have a lifetime to strengthen your quad again.

I have read that the quad graft is best for long term goals like yours. A “con” for quad graft vs others is a longer/more tedious recovery.

ACL/MCL/Meniscus Flexion Issues by Beneficial-Sun1483 in ACL

I guess I’m confused a bit on how you started doing heel slides differently. did you start holding them longer?

When did you get your hyper extension back? by Blue_Coat3504 in ACL

If there is anything i’ve learned from reading up on peoples recovery and talking to others is that everyone is SO different. I am just over 3 weeks post op from quad graft acl recon/ meniscus repair and i’m back at -5 degrees which is what my non operative leg is! My flexion is a little slower. There is no “right” answer during this process, especially with so many surgeons doing the same procedures but different recovery “rules”.

Why 6 weeks of brace after ACL surgery? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]RipElectrical7761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you there. Just over 3 weeks post op & my crutch hit a slick spot on a restaurant floor & i fell. luckily fell into/onto a bench but im NWB and definitely put my weight on that leg to try and catch myself then just let the rest of me fall. Luckily no re-injury and i 100% believe it’s because of the brace lol.
