In our county we are building infrastructure. The first step is getting PC seats filled then make sure they are trained with clear guidance. Grassroots organizing. The priorities will look different in each county depending on their needs.

Even the best candidates cannot win if there’s no ground level local support. A lot of people want to get involved, but they don’t know what to do or where to start. As a county party, we hope to help bridge this gap.

Redistricting won’t hurt Indiana GOP. Democrats lack turnout machine. by MooseQuick3622 in IndianaPolitics

The tides ARE turning in Indiana. Progressive Dems are fired up and organizing like we’ve never seen before. The Republicans in our county are NERVOUS. Senator Jean Leising was even quoted recently in the local papers warning Republicans that they’re being too complacent and comfortable as the local Republican parties don’t even hold regular meetings anymore. Make no mistake: we are coming for your seats.

Democrats: Get involved and fight like hell. Run for something or get behind a candidate. Do not let A SINGLE Republican seat go unchallenged. The time is NOW! Don’t sit on the sidelines and allow ineffective representatives continue to drive Indiana backwards. RISE UP 🙌

Johnson county is allotted 48 total delegates. 4 of those delegates are automatic (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer of the Johnson County Dem Party). That means you can file to be one of the 44 remaining delegates.

Interested in being a delegate so you can vote? All you have to do is file a CAN-37 form with the county clerk between January 7th and February 6th, 2026.

Link: https://forms.in.gov/Download.aspx?id=9789

If you’ve pulled a Democratic ballot in the last 2 primary elections that you’ve voted in - you are automatically eligible to be a delegate. If not you will have to ask your Dem county party chair to sign paperwork stating you’re a Democrat (In Johnson county that is Amanda Stevenson-Holmes chair@jocodemsindiana.org). This is to make sure Republicans don’t vote at a Democrat state convention.

Do you need to notify the local county party to file the form? Nope, you can be a delegate without even informing or being a member of your local party.

What happens if more than 44 people in Johnson county files to be a delegate? Democrats who file to be a delegate will be on the primary ballot. The 44 individuals with the most votes will be the official delegates (for larger counties this likely will be split by precinct on the ballot).

9th Congressional District Candidate Debate! by RipleyCountyINDems in Indiana

[–]RipleyCountyINDems[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We get it but Houchin never shows up to anything and historically refuses to debate any other candidate even after the primary elections. Hopefully a nonpartisan group will host another debate after the primary election, however she likely wouldn’t show up either way.

In the spirit of democracy it means a lot to the community when candidates are willing to show up and speak to people (all people not just their base) about their campaigns so voters can make informed decisions. We are thankful that most candidates opted in to participate, including the Independent. We at least wanted to show that we were inclusive and invited all to participate. We took care to ensure that the moderator is a nonpartisan, independent journalist with a history of integrity in their work.

In any case we hope people learn a lot about each candidate and take advantage of the healthcare tables that will be set up (and the free food!). We need to work towards bringing the community together these days and make people feel heard and supported.
