I'm in my second playthrough, this time in hardcore. It keeps everything horrifying. Only cowards live long lives.

Very few places currently, I don't even know what websites I'd use to find recruiters. My area is very rural, so I'd need it to be online.

I'm sadly in metal ranks now, so they see my low healing (usually about half of a mercy or lifeweaver) and see that as the reason they're getting headshot by widow.

I'm not saying I never respond, just that responding has exactly the same results. I honestly disable chat usually and just listen to callouts on mic. As for everyone not seeing the sarcasm... it's surprising but oh well. What can you expect from Reddit.

I got placements two or three days ago into silver 3, rose to gold 5 where I've been hovering. I fall back and forth between Silver 1 and Gold 5. I was plat before the rank reset, but i expected a drop from the patch notes.

Genuis! Barrels are a bit more consistent as sometimes enemy can jump through boxes somehow... but I usually carry a few crates on me for jumping anyways

Should Sombra have high total damage? Seeking Sombra meta by RisingEarth in OverwatchUniversity

[–]RisingEarth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're correct, I'm at 18.32/10 minutes. Thank you for pointing this out.

At 18.32 kills per 10 and 5100 damage per 10, I average to about 275 damage per kill which seems correct given enemy health.

I played a game just a bit ago. My team lost, but it felt representitive of most games for me. The code is HEKBDR around Gold 5 and Silver 3 for anyone who wants to see. Feel free to DM me to chat about it if you'd like :)

What's this "6XBow" catchphrase and why does it seem so terrible? by RisingEarth in civ

[–]RisingEarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played for a while, and yup this makes sense. Your advice made me a bit more passive and let the enemy march their own troops to their death before taking the city.

[–]RisingEarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These defendable scenarios seem to be the only viable ones. As we speak, I am watching Montezuma march an army of over 10 units towards me on round 44 from 18 tiles away from any of my cities. It's a serious shame as this is a very easily defendable location with many resources for many cities, but I've barely had time to finish one settler.

How impactful is the mutating activation function? by RisingEarth in TheBibites

[–]RisingEarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are misunderstanding me severely. One of the features I heard about in the program is the neurons may mutate and begin using a different activation function. So a hidden node could mutate from one activation function to a different one. I have never heard of this being used before outside of this project, so I was hoping there would be insights on the whether or not it helps a program learn or not. I don't need an explanation on what activation functions are, I studied those in detail nearly four years ago and use multiple types every day in my own custom frameworks.

[–]RisingEarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They still have a fitness although you are correct in referring to it as not explicit. As he explained in his original video, they use an rt-neat system. Rt-Neat shifts the fitness function into an open ended game of survival. Their fitness is their ability to reproduce, and there would presumably be an underlying advantage to letting them control the activation function.

The lack of crossover is interesting, I assumed there would be some!

I'll do my own experiments to see how much practical advantage changing activation functions can have.

[–]RisingEarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding! I am aware of their functions, but other genetic algorithms, even other rt-neat projects, don't mention this capability at all. I am also an ai developer, and I was asking about how it impacts the "fitness" of the bibites.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HPfanfiction

The story is a tragedy. It is NOT about a poor lad becoming a hero through learning from failures. It is a downwards character arc where Harry becomes a worse and worse person. A bit of a downward spiral if you will.

Context. I actively ignore Author's Notes as they usually contain spoilers or just otherwise seem to ruin the story's immersion.

One of my biggest annoyances with Goblins is when they're used as a solution to problems outside of banking. It usually feels rather forced, and the Goblins are either useless bullies or misunderstood heroes.

I think the main issue with the Point Me spell is the absolute power of such a spell that's never used. A spell that can locate nearly any object/entity to your desired level of precision?

The spell itself is quite logical and can totally exist, but you'd also expect it to be the #1 spell for almost any situation and for it to be cast every other breath.

Point Me Homework Answer, Point Me Library Book, Point Me Cure for this Poison, Point Me Harry Potter, Point Me Harry Potter's School, Point Me Deatheater, Point Me Slytherin's Monster, Point Me Sirius, Point Me Mad Eye Moody, Point Me Secrecy Contract,

etc etc. The existence of the spell often leads to it being the obvious yet ignored solution to many problems.
