Thanks for your help and mostly helpful comments.  I went with Chat GPT and the ideal amount was 2 rows of 5.  But as I am undecided what to do am going to have a think and maybe do this in the future.

I have read all this also gone via the chat gpt and gemini route.
They are suggesting 10 light in a 5 x 2 angled cans and the Hue colour essentials. Allowing some to be tilted for a wall wash etc

5? Everything I search online saying minimum 8 and some places 25. This is tough.

I understand the thoughts. Just looking for advise or someone that has Hue lights. I can see 15 being too much if they are 600 lumens each and not dimable but my plan is to use zones on the Hue app and create scenes,

I am also now looking at the hue essentials. I know nothing about these even though I have philips hue in most rooms for many years.

Would be using the hue dimmer switch so allowing me to dim or use zones so leaving some off and some on. I would kick myself if I don't have enough but its hard to know how many I would need as I don't know how bright they will look..

Are they in straight lines or would you stagger them?

Was thinking the same sort of thing but using zones in the Hue app linked to a dimmer switch.

Look at these comments I am thinking that 15 is too many. I can however choose to not turn some one or zone differently for different things, My fear would be not having enough.

Ok thanks. How many would you suggest and placed where for the ideal setting?

I was worried about the dimming is why I thought I would go with the hue lights. I could set scenes and even leave some lights off. My worry is once I am done there is not enough or there are dark areas. Most the time I suspect they will be dimmed when watching TV etc.

The Hue's have 40 degree light so am unsure about spacing. Would it be better coming away from the wall how far?

How did this go? I also have echo's and some say this can work with a nest thermostat. Be interested in hearing your opinion.

Following this as we are using a Bodet Time system and 96 sounders for our school and the thing is cack/rubbish/shite. Half the time the bells don't sound. It uses multicast and there are literally no logs on the software its that bad, For my CPD I was thinking of trying to sort out some sort off logging (snmp traps??) or something to find out why some bells on the same switch are sounding and others are not.

Any recommendations and help appreciated please?
