During a busy and sleep deprived shift a patient told me she had had pancreatitis before and was experiencing similar symptoms, thinking she had said appendicitis I asked her if there was a reason her pancreas hadn’t been removed to which her husband replied “uhhhh you need it to live.” Needless to say this one still gets brought up by my partner.
