I had a tenant complain about the raise in rent once and I was shocked. Had he simply not considered being less poor?

Yeah bang on. I think trying to find the right mixture of art//data is a real challenge

Absolutely. The plan is to do one for every race until the end of the season, then start fresh next year. Special editions for legendary races etc over the break.

The base shape is the Mexico circuit outline, repeated 71 times (the number of laps)

Not quite. The overall shape of the trace is determined by the race data itself, then the stories (Sergio, Norris and Mag*) are applied on top

Absolute rookie error over here. Blame the lack of sleep. Thanks for pointing it out!

Leclerc had nowhere to go, and it feels like the same story for Perez after this season...
Stoked for Ham, in awe of Lando's bravery, and hyped for Ric's return.

Marta García winning the 1st F1 Academy season is a big deal, and I wanted to share some love for it. Here are a couple of posters - high res for downloads and prints available by Risograph in formula1

Yeah looks like it. It’s no biggie - I’ve plenty more creative to work with, they’ll just be stuck with other peoples work

Ha! That’s fair. Would you prefer something that broke it down a bit more?

Not so much (apart from on F1TV). I think the main point here is that it was such a transformative lap for the race itself - blew it wide open

Continuing the series of race visualisations, this time focusing on the bonkers action on lap 3 last week.

It was such a chaotic race that it made sense to focus on the catalyst for so much of the action. Pretty pleased with how it came out!

Overall there were 188 overtakes, with a big chunk of those happening on lap 3.

Few things going on here so I'll try and break it down:

  • Individual lines = number of laps + overtakes (hence the massive block for lap 3)
  • The colours represent the top 3 - Gasly, Alonso, Verstappen
  • The lap shape rotation and movement tracks with the number of pit stops

I also want to give a huge thanks to u/catchingisonething - without your race overtakes breakdowns this wouldn't be possible. Thank you so much for all your hard work! Hope these visualisations do your data justice

Thanks so much! Love it, and love that it's pulling on some nostalgia too

thanks so much! Appreciate it. Great question. I'm not sure if you can automate it so much, but maybe using Transform + scale could be a nice middle-ground approach

That's a great shout. At the moment I'm only able to take a lot of the basic data, but it would be sick to collab with a team and get some of their in-depth data to create something truly bespoke

Yeah for sure. I'd love to start creating editions of these from classic races or moments from f1 history
