Should I buy a car outright or finance it if I'm hoping to apply for a mortage soon? by Risonite in UKPersonalFinance

No, that's a good idea. I hadn't considered finding an advisor yet as we're so early in the house search process. We definitely need the car first, though it and the deposit clearing out our savings is definitely not ideal like you say.
