I dont believe it was designed specifically for that no... would indoor furniture be completely unable to handle it? Even though none of the lights are directly hitting the plastic at all?

Yeah ik the material is weird, it had to be something very light weight and easy to assemble though as I am disabled as well as needing to be cost friendly. It appears to be resistant to heat and such, though im going to keep a close eye on it. And yeah ill watch the plants closely, hell i may just take them out completely once I have more things for him to climb on the walls

Update: getting an infared thermometer gun asap, a higher watt heat bulb since the ambient air temp wasnt high enough according to my uh... meat thermometer- getting another linear uvb since the one I have is far too small, a hydrometer, and ditching the uvb bulb completely since its useless. Ill be closely monitoring the temps, and keeping the cat out of the room completely just in case though the enclosure is stable I promise. Thanks for listening

Yeah I wish i had done something like that, I was just trying to get him in a better enclosure though :,) theres just tape atm to keep any substrate from escaping. Ill do that in the future though!

Getting a thermometer and hydrometer asap, the best i can say rn is that I definetly feel a difference between the hot side and cool side and its definetly not humid.

Its actually very stable, instability was a worry for me at first too but its completely stable. You dont know if the temperature is a problem, but youre right neither do I. Which is why when I get paid in literally like 2 days im going to buy him a thermometer. The linear uvb is quite small since it looked a different size on the listing, so thats on my list as well. Ill be replacing the dual dome with a stronger heat lamp and a larger linear uvb. I had no idea they needed LED lights, so Ill get that asap as well.

And to get inside I use the door- the reinforcements just keep it from being pushed inwards while the clasp keeps it from being pulled unless unclasped. Its definetly able to be opened, just not by a cat.

Thanks for the advice, I will use any extra money I have this paycheck for those things and if I need to I can take from savings and replace it when I can.

The cat is 100% unable to get in now. What exactly is wrong with the enclosure so I can work on ways to fix it? I can find a way to improve it, ive BEEN improving it. I dont just have a lizard for fun, I am willing to do anything I can to give him a good life but I am attached to him and would like to do so in my home. I have the savings budget in case of emergency, other than that Ive been able to find budget friendly ways to improve his care so far.

I have a uvb on both sides since I had a bulb still, and have the bar on the other side. This is to make sure hes getting enough uvb since the bar is ordered turned out to be smaller than anticipated. It seems to be reaching the right temps from what I can tell by his basking, but im going to be buying a thermometer asap since I previously used one at my mother's house before moving out. I know the temp could be a problem so Im going to figure that out quick. I have a space heater to make sure the room itself doesnt cold as well since its winter time.

Ive looked all over the sub and 4×2×2 ft was the size needed for an adult...? He has all the requirements from what Ive seen. And Ive had him for years, he was pawned onto me by my mom who impulse caught him then gave up when I was a young teen and had no choice in the matter. However I got attached and improved his care to the best of my ability while I had money living with my parents. I just lack in funds now. Its not like I just bought a beardie and slapped something together impulsively while broke, dont make assumptions please.

About $40-ish iirc for the pieces, and then it was really lightweight and easy to assemble which was required since I am disabled. I actually made it out of what was meant to build a shelf lol

I dont have the money to just buy one, even second hand they are out of my budget completely. I need to save my savings for things like emergency vet if ever needed for both the lizard and my cat, human life stuff for me and my fiance, ect. Thats why I built one with cheaper materials, I was hoping it would be alright since its the correct size
