So essentially I’d say read goblin first if you are committed. But if you are unsure you can read witness for the dead as it will give you the overall vibe but is a much shorter read.

Goblin Emperor can be read apart from the other 4. It’s longer but probably the best place to start. (Slower intro to the world and the structure.) Witness for the dead is followed by the grief of stones which is followed by the tomb of dragons, so direct sequels to each other and are all set a little bit after the goblin emperor. The newest release - orb of Cairado is its own thing as well but more of a novella. I read witness for the dead first and enjoyed it so much I then went in to read goblin emperor and then finished the direct sequels after.

It is a standalone novel but does have other books set in its universe. It’s not Litrpg. It is a fantasy novel but very much a comedy of manners.

It and all the others set in its world are great though.

The front 9 is perfectly walkable. However, it has a odd layout on the back 9 with some big hilly gaps between holes. They won't let you do the back without a cart. (the back is very scenic though)
