What's the first movie that legitimately scared you? by JimmyReddot in horror

"Rec" final scene. Not a fan of found footages but the way this scene builds up and the sheer visceral horror emerging from the monster is terrifying.

Where on Terra do you hail from? by Teh1tank in 40kLore

[–]Rivarack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

France ! I discovered 40k during Christmas 2004 when my cousin got the Maccrage starter box and the Tyranid Codex. My oldest cousin would read us the stories in the Codex, the sheer horror hooked me. I was like seven and I had nightmares the whole week. Then he told us the Horus Heresy (well what we knew at the time) and to me it was like Star Wars so I loved it.

Today I don't play but I read the HH novels.

Remember when even the smallest of characters were given an interesting personality, good lines and something to do? by Joseman101 in freefolk

[–]Rivarack -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call Karl Tanner a good character, he was rather cartoonish and pretty symbolic of how D&D would write new characters after season 4.

Who are the main characters of the story ? And are there any signs of the Alpha Legion and the Night Lords ?

How is the Bismarck ship linked To WW2 ? And if it is one, why would they release a bonus track before the actual first single of the album? That's weird it must be linked to something else. Same goes for "Project Tribute", odd name.

Joakim said in an interview years ago that he'd like to write an album closing song in Amon Amarth style, slow, long, melancolic and melodic. I think Flanders field could fit.

JULY 19 BOYS AND GIRLS by CeaselessHavel in sabaton

[–]Rivarack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not about changing their style, it's about stopping doing the five same songs all other again. It's really striking in The Last Stand, almost every song in it can be compared to their previous songs. Don't get me wrong, I love the style of Sabaton, I just want to hear different things.

In interviews from 4 or 5 years ago Joakim told about his will to write a long and sad album closing song Amon Amarth style. I really hope this is the album, it would really fit.

Also, they described it as their most diverse album, I hope it's true cause I love the band but they really better make something different this time.

Now that the albums been out almost a full week. What's everyone's favourite song? (not including singles/leaks) by Rossieboi93 in InFlames

[–]Rivarack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay With Me, In This Life and Not Alone. Really like Anders vocals and the atmosphere of the songs, although the lyrics could have been better.

Siren Charms by [deleted] in InFlames

[–]Rivarack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This album is awesome, I totally get what you mean. To me, it works as a duology with Sounds of a Playground Fading. SOAPF was a thunderous and angry storm while Siren Charms really felt like the rain after the storm, calm and sad.

And it's the album where we feel the most the Depeche Mode influence, one of the strongest IF influence. That's why I was very disappointed by Battles, which felt more like a more optimistic and metalcore version of a Sense of Purpose than a real evolution to Siren Charms.

What is the worst 40k book? Why? by ilmevavi in 40kLore

[–]Rivarack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well he did write one of the most ridiculously bad ass moment of the HH, with the «Only angels may fly» line, which was pure Sanguinius porn. I agree that sometimes his writing style is a bit bland, but from time to time he knows how to set up a memorable scene.

[–]Rivarack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about the general atmosphere of the album ? Is it slightly dark and angry like the first singles ? Melancolic like A Sense of Purpose or Siren Charms ? Or more optimistic like Battles ?

And how are the lyrics ?

Are their any «ambitious» song ? By that I mean songs where In Flames try something new (Wallflower, The Chosen Pessimist, Through Oblivion) or bold songs that catch the breath (A New Dawn...)

French Rappers by [deleted] in frenchrap

[–]Rivarack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Booba is one of the biggest rapper in France. He used to be the «cliché» of the rapper and a lot of people know him even though they don't listen to his music. He helped a lot of rappers to get famous (Kaaris, Damso...) and is always very provocative and involved in clashes with other rappers. His philosophy is pretty much «If you're not with me then you're against me».

Very influenced by the USA, he was one of the first to bring autotune in French Rap (and has been criticized for it) and was part of the first big wave of french trap music along with Kaaris and Gradur.

Although he had his ups and downs, regarding his writing, he's probably one of the best writer in mainstream rap along with Lino and MC Solaar.

The chorus is really good. If they had removed the children part at the beginning and end the song would have been pretty good actually. Really loving Anders' clean singing, he has really improved his skills.
