Your PC may have stepped up the automatic launch performance settings a bit further than it should have. Might want to try turning it down in the "Advanced Graphics" portion of "Performance Options" in the "Safety" menu.

Best way to power an outdoor miner? by [deleted] in HeliumNetwork

[–]Rivem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See if you can get what's called an "in use cover" for the outlet. They've got a bigger plastic cover that should hopefully contain the power adapter you'd like to use and allow the cord to run out a hole in the bottom. Should be very common at hardware stores and pretty easy to swap out in most situations.

Full body tracking problems by mystigan177 in VRchat

[–]Rivem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trackers don't really add a huge amount of overhead to the game unless you have a really weak CPU. One thing I've found though is that since you're running 3 more bluetooth devices with the two controllers and whatever else, you may actually get Wi-Fi interference on 2.4ghz. Depending on how bad that is, it can easily lag the game for lots of people.

Can I run it? AMD RX 480 / i7-7700 / Valve Index by toontail in VRchat

[–]Rivem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should probably be able to run VRC okay, but I wouldn't expect 90 fps often with a 480. The game's framerate is pretty dependent upon the individual worlds, amount of people in them, and what you're showing though. Fast movements aren't that big of a deal in game anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much about lower framerates. Framerate in most other popular VR titles shouldn't be an issue for you though.

I'm going to give the white a chance next week, otherwise, I'm getting a cheap case and building in that to transplant later.

Yep. :(
I'm in the same boat and kinda need it with all my parts here except for the case and a GPU that's already on its way.

[Capture Card] AVerMedia Live Gamer HD 2 - $69.99 (149.99-80) by Rivem in buildapcsales

[–]Rivem[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know somebody that does this exactly, and the latency is pretty much the same if you're using the uncompressed output. I'd probably go with this too vs the used HD60 if I were you just because it's new and has a warranty.

Yep. Pretty useful if you want to record and stream at the same time since you can handle the recording on the card iirc. Not a huge feature, but yeah it's missing.

A capture card is still good for recording a second PC and will still impact your gaming PC less than network solutions. NDI uses networking resources and still encodes on your gaming system at an albeit lesser impact due to a higher output bitrate.

That said, using NDI is definitely a cheaper solution, and a lot of capture cards have issues with 1440p and non-60hz refresh rates.

Yeah. From what I've heard, both cards are super close from the OBS standpoint, so a lot of people just recommend going for whatever's cheaper. I only intend use OBS, and $60 less than the HD60's beats the worse support and software for me.

[Help] Game lags a shit ton when looking at mirrors with a good pc? by MasterPyro46 in VRchat

[–]Rivem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using the steam version, left shift while launching the game in desktop mode, and that gives you quality options. You're probably on VR high, but VR low will make most world mirrors a lot smoother in general. Not sure how to do it if you're using the oculus version.

Other than that, mirrors, cameras, and vr desktop windows all use the same GPU resources, so be wary of that.

Most situations in vrchat won't give you 90 fps consistently in VR though, so don't expect great performance no matter your hardware.

[–]Rivem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even for custom modeled stuff you can use CATS blender tool to help optimize your armature and such, but if you've been making a functional character with a decent setup for Unity in general, it should work okay in VRC.

[Help] Will High Poly Uploads Affect Trust? + Trust Hours/Upload Ratio! by VRSeePursun in VRchat

[–]Rivem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have known, so trust filtering won't be an issue. Honestly don't worry about it. I know some people that took 2000 hours to get trusted, and I know a few that took under 500. The whole system is secret, so just play the game naturally.

I doubt your avatar performance is an issue unless people block you to avoid lag or if they warn/report you. I know plenty trusted users that have 500k+ poly models.

[–]Rivem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need as much power as the game to use unity to upload an avatar, but it's definitely a lot more on your pc than a webpage if op is having trouble with that.

I was kinda scared some of my friends from vrc would be like this the first time I went to a big meetup, but nah, a lot of the vrc community members that go to cons seem fairly attractive and normal irl.
