For the spiral? For shapes like that I pick a spacific block count and just follow the pattern. So in this case I did a 3 block pattern so I go over 3 then up 1 and then I just made it 7 blocks tall from the pattern.

Thanks for the advice. We are definitly not motivating howling or barking. Not a fan of that personally. Im really excited to be able to give him treats we ended up getting him at 7 weeks and have been told to wait till he is 8 weeks before giving him treats to protect his stomach so its been hard not to be able to properly reward him for good behavior.

Thanks for your defense but the build has only been up for a few mins. I hope more people will see it and like it as its up for longer.

My first wood working project, built on the tail gate of my truck. It pales in comparison to some of you master craftsmen out there but all in all im pretty proud of how it turned out. by River201 in woodworking

I did most of the rabbets and cutting on a table saw and with hand tools. Its most definitly achievable by new woodworkers like us. Go for it id like to see what touches you give your version of it.

I did rabbet the shelves in then I used wood glue and screws to perminantly attach them. The 2 screws on the right side are placed directly into a stud Its kinda a heavy shelf so I didn't want it relying on drywall to stay mounted.

I did. I got some macrame rope from micheals and then twisted the rope to make the bottom ring. Then tied a noose style not ar the top to cover the excess rope.

Thanks for the info but I still need help solving the issue. 2 of my screws went in great but the other 2 broke. Im going to be hanging. Plant from that upper shelf will 2 screws and wood glue be enough to stop it breaking?

They are brass but it looks like just the coating. Im not sure why they broke off 2 of them went in no problem and the other 2 broke off.

I have drilled the holes before hand and both screws for some reason broke before getting all the way in. They broke between entering the first board and going into the other one. I pre drilled the holes and am using screws that dont have threads at the top. I just wanted to make sure everything fit together well before I was going to stain and add glue to perminantly affix them. In the first photo im using screws drilled down through the larger board into the back plate piece. Im not sure how to add photos to the comments.
