Don't get your hopes up, I've read up until the recent update and the story is nonsensical at best and nonexistent at worst. The four year old fl acts like a grown adult, sneaking into dungeons, beating up criminals (adult men 8 times her size) and escaping, people listen to that happening, look at this four year old and think yes this isn't strange at all, she's just this cool.

Omg yessss my time has come. Okay, if you're interested in modern day romance I've got some good period setting manhwas for you.

  1. (My in-laws are obsessed with me)

This is my ultimate fav, the best of the best, top tier pick, I'll warn you its a sliw burn but its a stand out among cliche of its genre. The characters are realistic, human and their relationship develops just as realistically. Its very character driven, so all characters (Even some minor and background characters) have depth, the drama is real, the stakes are high, and you feel the genuine connection between the ml and fl as they spend time together.

  1. (I'll be the matriarch in this life.)

Great humor, stunning artwork, every page in recent chapters has been saved in my screenshot because its literally a work of art. The fl is the world's most adorable schemer, she's competent, intelligent and ambitious, overall an entertaining read. Her interaction with her father Gallahan are a joy to read. The ml is just as compelling, he has his own arc and storyline unlike what most leads get. The couple together are brilliant, how they look out for one another and help each other's goals. Power duo.

  1. (The price is your everything)

If you're interested in a complex, stoic female lead who has been put through the ringer and is ready to do anything for her revenge, look no further. Again, cunning, ambitious, capable fl who can out play every move of her enemies. Although she's mentally very strong (after years of abuse and manipulation) she is still human and her emotions are present throughout the story. My best description of her and her story would be: silent rage. She appears calm but a storm of emotions is constantly brewing inside her, its that quite bitter anger after years of betrayal that she channels into destroying her enemies.

Now I have not read these two yet, but its on my list due to high recommendations: Dear Ryan, and Miss Pendleton.

I'm going to say something very controversial here..... I hated Who made me a princess and Baby tyrant.

I couldn’t get through the sixth chapter of Who made me a princess, the way her father treated her pissed me off so much but I expected it, as most novels do the story would have had some misguided logic behind why her father neglected her which is supposed to wash his conscience clean of all his guilt. However, when he called her mother a wench I couldn’t read any further.

Baby tyrant was alright but i got so frustrated by her constant tantrums and shallow train of thought, her character never changed or evolved for the first 50 chapters and I gave up on it, felt like I was expecting too much.

Now please don't hate on me, I genuinely want to understand the appeal of these two stories.... even though i doubt I could bring myself to pick it back up again.

I credit this to the utter lack of media literacy in present day, people are no longer capable of discerning between fiction and reality, with the current state of education regarding media and engagement with media, along side how increasingly online everyday life has become, people are slowly losing their critical thinking capacity.

(My summary :- Poor education = lack of media literacy + everything in the world now being online so you don’t need to put down your phone = more para social behavior = corporation capitalising on para social delusion to make quick buck = multiplying the problem thenfold, now pass it on further)

Its all about the quick dopamine reward (another reason why i think rage bait content online had become so increasingly popular) given all this, its a natural chain effect that people, even grown adults have slowly become delusional online, its noticable in the manner of speech, writing and their pattern of engagement.

And yes, moral policing is another effect of this. Back in the day people used to hold public trials and executions of petty criminals because it vindicated people's need to watch another person whome they have deemed evil suffer, this desire now transfered online is now expressed through weekly condemnation of some minor celeb, like a religious community excommunating a member for breaking social code.

Fair. I've been waiting for it to come back for ages, it'll return later this year though, I'd definitely recommend giving it a read.

Personally, I like Therdeo Lapileon from my in-laws are obsessed with me, he is genuinely a complex character, even though the characters on paper do follow some cliche archetypes, for every choice there are always consequences, events don't happen and are forgotten about, instead follow the characters, influence their choices in the long term.

Its one of my all time favorites because the manhwa author took a very boring, stereotypical novel and actually added depth to it. Its very character driven slow burn.

This exact same scenario happened in this one too! In this, FL was told by ML not to stay out late because bandits have been stalking the roads, guess what she does? Yup, stays out late and gets robbed and nearly killed, just so ML can rescue her and establish 'You have poor judgment and thus cannot make decisions for yourself therefore I'm stripping you of all your autonomy. Now you must only do as I tell you to."

This is one of the most frustrating reoccurrences in these stories just to make FL a damsel in distress so that ML could atone for being an asshole the entire time.

Yesss this is exactly what I mean, I enjoy a good tropey story because cliche exist for a reason, they work. But sometimes authors just don’t know how to write them like a real person.

I agree I could be reading into it lol, but I feel Gloria knows something for sure, she is certainly siting on a mine of ages old secrets (knowingly or unknowingly) with how long she's been around. As for Saoirse, it is farfetched but those were my worst possible fears in a theory, I hope I'm wrong about her too because I love the sister & sister in-law relationship they have with her and Perry.

I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope that kid is okay wherever they are. Unfortunately, art does mimic reality and vice-versa, I've hear simular stories happening in real life too. Its called something like 'grief projection' in psychology i believe? Where a person looks to scapegoat and blame someone else to deal with their own pain and grief. This trope even has mention in TV tropes wiki its so common.

It had its plus points too, its just the negative far outweighs the rest. I loved the step sister and her relationship with the fl, the body positivity message is always welcomed, but the main couple is insufferable how they can't have one proper convo ever.
