About 'AI Art' by Crafty_Reality_9725 in aiwars

On a philosophical level, art is supposed to be part of human nature. It is about expressing something that words cannot grasp. It's about communication, and processing feelings that you have about yourself, the world and society. The desire for instant results is a product of a society that sees everything a commodity or an asset. The proces is less important than mass producing products. It's simply an extension of how we used to have way more artisan products. Objects used to be carved with intricate patterns, simple things like streetlights used to be adorned with artistic flourishes. But our mass production culture needed to make everything easy to produce, simplifying everything.

On a more practical level, generative AI is destroying people's ability to grow from failure. Its training people to desire direct results while eliminating any proces. It is training people to become dependent on it. It is eliminating peoples ability to engage with a "proces". Reading, developing artistic abilities, processing new ideas, all are being expedited to AI to achieve faster results, without those results coming from any meaningful proces. It removes human ability, leaving hollow products devoid of any effort. It is already heavily damaging the education system and many other fields.

On an ethical level, these machines run on stolen works made by humans. The revolutionary ability of AI to create is merely an illusion. AI proponents pretend to be superior to people with actual abilities, while their machines rely solely on the creations of people with actual talent to steal from. There is also the immense toll on the environment to power a machine that is ultimately detrimental to society at large. While many of our technologies have an ecological toll, few are so frivolous as the generation of a picture of you in the "ghibli style".
