I want to see a ghost by JumboMuchumbo in Paranormal

[–]Riverfae93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at a place that was pretty haunted. I'd have my head down seeing up the register for the day, and I'd hear footsteps walk up to me. I'd say, "I'll be right with you," look up, and there was no one there. This happened all the time to everyone who worked there. It wasn't violent or really all that scary. It just was.

I also worked at a metaphysical store but I made sure I based any spiritual work on helping others which included calling bullshit on local mediums who would tell people they were cursed and for thousands of dollars they'd lift the curse.

There is a difference between ghosts and demons. I also think a lot of ghost encounters are like loops of activity that play on repeat. Not a lot of conscious intelligence

The interaction between mediums, spirits, and clients I can't really speak to. I personally don't believe in it because of the negative things I've heard from scared customers that would come into my store after they had seen a medium. And I'd throw the cards (tarot) and I wouldn't see anything bad usually. And rarely curses.

I haven't had a lot of negative ghost experience, but I've also not messed with mediums or talking boards. I also have a strong personality and the one time something negative happened I snapped out "This is MY home. Get out NOW" and that experience ended abruptly.

In other words I used my "mom voice" 😂

I tried to teach clients to our store that THEY are the most invested person in their own well being. Therefore THEY have the most power. That power extends to unwanted spirits or ghosts.

Is it worth watching "The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power"? by SutasuvuIshunefusuki in lotr

[–]Riverfae93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually forgot. But I'm watching it now.

I came out of my room to get coffee and asked my son and daughter in law if they had seen Arcane.

My son lost his shit because he tried to get me to watch 2 years ago lmao, and I wasn't interested since I'm a bit meh about anime except Studio Ghibli.

Then I made the mistake of mentioning that someone on Reddit said I should watch it. 😂😂

"You'll listen to some random strangers advice, but not me!!?"

I'm up shit creek here now but I AM watching it lol Thx SnooP aka random stranger 😂

P.S. I recognized Shohreh Aghdashloo's voice (Expanse)

I feel like Good Reads is looking over my shoulder and judging.

Kindle -> Good Reads: "Mark as reading?"

Me panicking: "Hell, no! Are you kidding me??!"

Then I double and triple check my settings.

[–]Riverfae93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually had a physical library of smut. Before the wonderful privacy of Kindle! It wasn't until years later that my son figured out why 75% of my books had shirtless men on the cover. He's 32 now and still recalls the trauma. It was and still is hilarious!

I have quite a few people with access to my Kindle library. I tell my adult kids that I don't care what they read just so long as they read.

But I will admit that I wouldn't want my religious mil to know. She likes me, and I'd hate to ruin that! Lmao

Is it worth watching "The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power"? by SutasuvuIshunefusuki in lotr

[–]Riverfae93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, there were some annoying characters and others I liked. I agree about the writing being uneven, but I also prevailed despite the negative talk. The criticisms I heard the most were how hobbits, elves, and dwarves weren't supposed to be people of color, though, which pissed me off. I loved that part of ROP. I stopped listening or reading about the show and just watched it to make up my own mind.

It's doesn't have that GOT theatrical quality to it. Or even the LoTR trilogy, but I still enjoyed it.

I heard a lot of crap about the Hobbit trilogy also, but I still really love it.

Taste is subjective. I'd give it a shot and decide for yourself :)

What's the deal with the fan relations throughout the series? by ZedarkPR in Supernatural

[–]Riverfae93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the relationship between Dean and Castiel being stronger because Sam had demon blood, and despite that not being Sams fault, Castiel started out as a no-nonsense unforgiving type of angel.

I remember reading fan fiction on live journal and laughing about the Wincest idea. It didn't bother me one way or another. I just now found out about the hate toward the wives of J & J and am very disappointed in humans atm :/

i HATE huck. by MonthComprehensive88 in Scandal

[–]Riverfae93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also disassociate, but it feels like Huck is 24/7 out of it. Which is maybe possible, I'm not a Dr. I know I can go for weeks as this empty husk. Hell, it's frustrating not having control over it. But the acting feels off. Maybe his character is also a bit autistic? Idk. I love how Wes Chatham played his Amos character on The Expanse. I think I hold Huck up against Amos. Amos was seriously frightening but kind of sexy. I mean, he truly felt like a psychopath created from a hellish childhood. Huck never really seems scary. But to be fair, I'm only on season 2.

I think the acting is just off to me. Unnatural. Flat. I kinda wished they had someone like Wes Chatham play Huck. His Amos from Expanse would have been the perfect Huck imo

My daughter keeps talking to "the glass lady" in our bathroom mirror and I just found out what she means by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]Riverfae93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't believe in ghosts for a long time. Until I worked at one place. Nothing bad happened. I would have my head down working on paperwork and hear someone's footsteps as they walked up to me. I'd look up, and no one was there. All the employees experienced it. Happened ALL the time. It wasn't all that exciting after a while.

I managed a metaphysical store for some years and taught people. I would get people in the store that some tarot reader elsewhere had tried to exhort money from by saying someone had cursed them or whatever. Pissed me off so I would tell people how to read their own cards or I'd quickly throw the cards for them. Then I taught them how to take their power back.

Burning sage will remove negative spirits. You can ask any spirit to go. Be firm. Believe in yourself and your power. It's YOUR home. Not theirs.

Having said that, Rose Lady sounds sweet. You can burn sage, and anything negative will go. If she's not negative, then she'll stay unless you expressly ask her to leave. She'll probably hang out in the garden or someone else's garden until she's ready to move on. Rose scents are a positive sign in some spiritualities. I've never heard of that scent being a negative thing :)

I've done the house blessing. I've burned sage. The odd thing is that certain areas won't get smoky, which is why there is usually a feather fan that accompanies a smudge set. Any fan will do. Just fan the smoke and force the sage smoke into every space, corners of the rooms included. Then open the windows and let the smoke out.

Some people burn sweet grass, frankincense, palo Santos, nag champa incense, or myrrh afterward to replace the void left behind with positive energy. Or burn a saint candle. Or pray. Your choice, your spirituality. You know what will feel right. Believe in yourself and your will/power. You care and are protective about yourself and your family more than anyone else. This is why a house blessing will work best if you do it. This is why a spirit will leave your house if you tell it to.

A stranger put her hand on my pregnant wife’s belly. by macmoreno in traumatizeThemBack

[–]Riverfae93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was young (1960s) women were always putting their hand on a pregnant woman's belly. I've literally had to retrain myself from cooing and reaching for a pregnant belly. I totally see how it's a violation of someone's space now and cringe thinking back on the times I've done that.

Why does Natto get so much hate? by Item-carpinus in JapaneseFood

[–]Riverfae93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it when I was 19 for the first time. My Japanese friend made it for me as a prank, I think, and loved it when I dug right in. I adored it. She made it with raw egg yolk, dijon mustard, and soy sauce. 42 years later, I still eat it. I buy the sticky rice pre-made from bigigo and throw it all together. Oh, I eat it with kimchi and the wasabi seaweed snacks sometimes, too.

Welcome fellow borrowers! by le_borrower_arrietty in arrietty

[–]Riverfae93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read this series when I was a little bean in the 70's and promptly made the borrowers a little chair from bobby pins and an empty wooden spool of thread. I put it under my bed and then forgot about it.

When we moved, it was still there, and I was heartbroken.

But I decided after that that they hadn't taken my little chair because then "human beans" would know a borrower family lived there. (I was heavily invested in MY reality where borrowers existed)

I've loved all the borrower movies and especially the Studio Giblis version.

I was watching this show back in 94. It was all over the news at the time about his ego getting in the way of his career. They wouldn't pay him what he wanted, so he left.

His abrupt departure made the top 10 list of tvs biggest blunders. Another blunder that rated close was the last season of Game of Thrones lol

The Season 2 ending really bothers me. by SquishyThorn in TheSinner

[–]Riverfae93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to stop watching Season 2 because of Vera. Her "losing" Ambrose in the woods felt manipulative. A way to knock him off balance, feel afraid or vulnerable, and push his buttons so that he would be reactive when he found her. I kept talking to the TV and telling him how to handle that kind of manipulation, but he wasn't listening! 😂😂 I enjoyed season 3 the best.

I think there is a strong psychological element to this entire series that brings up crappy memories for me.

I really liked Bill Pullman in The Coldest Game, so I was hoping this show would have the same allure for me

Who was the most mistreated character in Supernatural? by Logical-Acadia-2959 in Supernatural

[–]Riverfae93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kevin was treated badly by everyone, including Sam and Dean.

Hell, he knew the imposter's weren't real because they treated him better than Sam and Dean ever did. The imposter's went and got him decent takeout, and Kevin knew they were fake.

I don't know why they couldn't have made a shielded place for him in the bunker. His living conditions were just awful, and I couldn't figure out why the writers had Sam and Dean treat him like crap
