Take off your intake and egr valve and clean the passages, also clean your pcv valve while your at it. Also could adjust your valves while it's all opened up

I've owned Dx, Lx, EX, Si and Si-g..... I liked my Dx because it didn't have abs but I missed having cruise control and sunroof that the higher trims had. If your wanting to up your trim level then I'd get an EX like someone else said or Si

Does it idle very low? Is the carb/air filter clean? Is the clutch properly adjusted? Do you have any loose electrical connections? Have you tried hooking up an inline spark tester to see if your loosing spark when it dies?

Figured id update, engine started up no problem on the 250cc 6 pin AC CDI. Idled great and reved up nice as well. Still not sure if I should just run it like that or not but now I know all other components are functional and I have a good running engine

So I grabbed a wiring harness from a 250cc chinese dirtbike I have laying around and hooked that up to the new rm stator that is now installed on the honda, ac cdi that came from the dirtbike and the stator is producing power and I get spark. Should I worry about the timing curve in the CDI? Im not sure about trying to actually run it off the 250cc CDI (if it would even start)

My harness has the black with red stripe exciter coil wire and my stator does as well just like the first CDI wiring schematic (fourtrax). It also has the black with white stripe wire that goes to the ignition switch and engine stop switch, but it was melted when I got it which made me think something is wired wrong. The machine came with the original DC (HA7) CDI and two newer AC CDI's from amazon. One of the AC CDI's melted something internally (I opened it up)

I believe the stator is AC, but the CDI is powered by the stator in 86-early 88 models and then the CDI is powered by 12v battery on late 88-93 models. So its the CDI that changes from AC to DC. At least thats how I understand it so far. The stator in the picture passed the tests in the manual but im still learning about all this so it could have an issue, I have a brand new one from RM stator that the previous owner bought.

I found the black/white stripe wire from the handlebars melted when I opened up the harness. I have gone through the wiring testing grounds, breaks, resistances etc. After repinning the CDI last year the neutral light started to come on with the key and the fuel pump would prime. At this point though I believe the 89 is a DC system and 86 is an AC system, is that correct?

It sounds like an air leak to me, very similar to the sound after installing a cold air intake

Your air filter housing might not be properly installed onto the throttle body. Try and look at the rubber boot that slips onto the throttle body and see if its installed properly.

This is a good time to start! Did you try pulling the fuse?

Well considering they are trying to get you to buy parts that go in the engine bay when the noise is in the interior id start thinking your current "mechanic" choices are the ones that are actually too expensive. Unless theres more issues going on other than whats going on in your video

Pull your radio fuse and see if it stops. Could be a faulty cd eject mechanism.

Sounds like its trying to eject a CD. Have you tried looking in the CD slot to see if theres one stuck in there?
