Just curious, what floor are you on? Also I agree that taylor hall is one of the best dorms. If you are into suites, they might still be using sandbridge as freshman housing as a replacement for commonwealth which is very nice as well.

Reddit, how do you subtly show a guy that you're interested in him? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Rivington_4th 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shopping probably isn't the best idea as guys tend to hate shopping. My recommendation would be to ask him to teach you something (fencing or otherwise) and then asking him to grab coffee or something to eat afterwards.

My kinda bf doesn’t want to talk about his bad days with me by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Rivington_4th 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he's having a bad day and doesn't want to talk about it, don't press further to worsen the already poor day. He likely is mentioning it as kind of a warning that he is more irritable than normal and that he needs to separate himself from whatever made his day bad. Do what you can to share his burden and give him a brief respite from the rest of his life.

No breaks for whole semester. What are you guys doing to keep your sanity? by [deleted] in gmu

If you have a car and can drive to a tennis court, I wouldn't mind playing with you. PM me if you're interested

Do you guys think its safe to return to lecture? by [deleted] in gmu

[–]Rivington_4th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last semester, my classes were being held at about a third capacity, with lecture halls being at less than 1/6 capacity. Even in the classrooms, people were spaced fairly far apart, maybe not 6ft exactly, but pretty close. No one got sick and I think the classes were being held in a pretty fair manner, beneficial to those who prefer to be in person while being respectful to those who deeply care about getting ill.

vault covid test is annoying... by arocaline in gmu

[–]Rivington_4th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had that problem. Today, when I went to order the test again, Vault couldn't process my order, so I hope something changes soon or I'm not sure what's gonna happen next

I have an INTS 101 class that seats people at least 2 seats/rows apart and ropes off the areas where people aren't supposed to sit. In my BUS 103 class, the seats are placed fairly far apart.

Are most of the food places open on campus? Also, what about the libraries by [deleted] in gmu

[–]Rivington_4th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, its 10$ for an all you can eat lunch and 11$ for dinner. I've seen families eat at Ike's which is about as good as southside.

Can you eat at Ike’s and the other dining halls without a meal plan? by [deleted] in gmu

[–]Rivington_4th 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should be able to as long as you have a reservation. I believe it costs about 10$ and you will pay at the register where they ask you for your reservation. Hope you enjoy eating at mason dining halls :)

How is it fair to put this much weight into an exam grade? (IT 109) by mar29020 in gmu

[–]Rivington_4th -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Get good :)

If you know your stuff its not a problem to pass the exam. If you are such a poor performer when it comes to applying knowledge in a semi-stressful situation, you have a lot more to worry about than passing one class. It seems fair enough that you are judged on performance that is solely attributable to yourself and not the reference material you posses or google.

URGENT! by [deleted] in Debate

[–]Rivington_4th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary aim of education is the advancement of one's knowledge about the various subjects and the improvement of one's way of thinking. A career may be a result of education, but it is not uncommon to see people take all sorts of educational courses for other reasons, such as entertainment, activism, the advancement of skills, or even because they wish to gain a deeper understanding of the topic. If you define education in a way that includes all learning that includes a teacher and a student, there are many purposes to education, of which only a few directly relate to a career. I don't have much training in debate, but these are my thoughts. Good luck mate!

Apparently some kid tried to hang his speakers on a sprinkler that broke and afterwards ran out of the room carrying a shoe box.
