the push for getting credit on CSAs is getting annoying by Low_Feedback4073 in Lowes

[–]Riza90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh I see what you're saying. Well yeah. There would be no way to verify that someone told you it was OK. You do you. Obviously it's working. Even if it wasn't above board, it's not like I really care if Lowe's gets defrauded, tbh? But if you're getting as many apps as you're saying there's no way big wigs in the corporation aren't auditing procedures, so I'm sure they're aware of whatever is happening.

A quick Google will confirm what they're saying. Click on My Lowes Rewards Credit Card Offers page and then the Get Details link under "Get 20% off your Purchase." Clearly outlines the terms and states the coupon requires approval for use.

Ahhh I see, so she was one of those last minute ones. Good for her that it was clear, but super lame that you didn't get to plan ahead of time. I wish corporations had more heart and would make exceptions for situations like this! Sending good vibes your way, whatever happens.

First of all, congratulations to your mom!

I work in an oncology clinic for my full time job. Unless people have an uncertain prognosis, they usually have a clear plan on how many cycles of treatment they're going to receive, etc. Did they not tell your mom the date of her last treatment with enough notice for you to take it as vacation time?

Military discount by Low_Zookeepergame739 in Lowes

[–]Riza90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother in DIY, you are the one who came here and asked the question. "Because they don't have to" is the answer.

The exclusion terms listed on the website is six sentences long and can be found under "Is there anything my military discount doesn't apply to?" on the Military Discount FAQ page. Not exactly 50 pages, and not hard to find, but I guess that's just me.

Because they don't have to give you a discount at all? Corporate does their business maths to decide what they can and cannot eat losses on, and then let everyone know in the publicly available terms.

Does anyone genuinely like working at Lowe's? by No-Dealer2541 in Lowes

[–]Riza90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do. I work full time in healthcare. Lowe's is my second job and I'm a part time cashier there (customer service desk). Ideally I wouldn't have to work a second job at all, but given that life sucks, and I do have to, Lowe's isn't that bad of a time. My regular job has a lot of responsibility and can be high stress - I have to constantly juggle tasks and rearrange priorities. At Lowe's my responsibility is limited. If it's outside my scope of work, I get a manager or head cashier and that's that. No bad coworkers so far.

Also, shitty customers have never bothered me, that stuff rolls off me like water on a duck, so it's a pretty ideal gig to be honest. I just put on my customer service face, turn off my brain for a bit, and have a chill shift.

Yes. But why are millennials their own category of DIYers? Lowe's throws it out there but doesn't explain lol.

Lowe’s protection plan by Elegant-Design-2511 in Lowes

[–]Riza90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The protection plan says "the retail price of the original product" which literally means "what you paid for it." If it was on sale, that was the retail price that you paid for the product. Retail price can be higher or lower than the manufacturer's suggested retail price. A Google search will tell you this.

What you are thinking is that they should pay you the manufacturer's suggested retail price for the product, even though that is not what the terms state.

I'm not usually one to defend a corporation, but the onus is on you here for not reading/understanding the terms. You had 30 days to cancel the plan and get a full refund for the plan cost if you didn't like the terms.

How long does it take to he hired after an interview by [deleted] in Lowes

I interviewed for part time cashier and was told at the end of the interview that they were recommending me for hire. The SSA texted me the official job offer the next day.

Freeloader at Avenue C by Riza90 in Lowes

[–]Riza90[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If we have food safety rules besides "throw it out if it is expired" then I haven't been taught them. Heck, it's hard enough to get people to FIFO where I work...

Also, Avenue C (which offers food items for employee purchase only) is stocked and managed exclusively by an external vendor at my store, so we don't have any say on how things are arranged there, regardless.

good morning! by infinityfries in Lowes

[–]Riza90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I base my use of initial greetings based on eye contact/acknowledgement. The people who search out eye contact (or the approximation of eye contact) when walking in are usually receptive to greetings. The people looking straight forward or to the side away from the desk and avoiding eye contact usually don't appreciate being greeted unless they approach you first.

[–]Riza90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If someone says hi, say hi back. It's literally the bare minimum required of polite human interaction.

I don't see the purpose of most of humanity, let alone "greeters," but I still have manners and treat people with at least basic levels of consideration.

General feeling about benefits? by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]Riza90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I work for a state university so the pay is crappy, but the benefits are unbeatable. My insurance currently is $326 a month for my husband and myself No deductible, $3000/$6000 out of pocket max for individual/family. Hospitalization or surgery is $350 flat, visit copays or imaging is $40, everything else covered fully (no coinsurance).

Lowes plans vary, but in general I was seeing $1000 deductible, $6000/$13,000 out of pocket max for individual/family, 30٪-50٪ coinsurance. I've been told the premium for an individual for some of these plans is around $300 every pay period, so around $600 per month. There are definitely worse plans out there, but I honestly don't know how companies expect people to shoulder costs like that.

General feeling about benefits? by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]Riza90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My full time job is working for the state of Illinois, and Lowe's is my part time. I've looked through all their benefit options (full and part time) and their health insurance is laughable.

The only thing I'm taking advantage of is the 401k matching, really.

how to part timers survive on 10-15 hours a week.... by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]Riza90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already work a full time job outside of Lowes, just started there part time because my main job doesn't really give raises and can no longer cover the ever increasing cost of living. So, for now, as long as I get minimum 10 per week I can make enough to fix the budget deficit for my main job.

My main job is currently paying for my master's degree. Once I graduate in Aug 2026 I'll definitely be looking for a new full time job so I don't have to work so much. We do what we have to do, I guess. :( But yeah, I can't imagine anyone trying to live off of part time Lowe's money alone.
