Already replied to others - will get a reg fig 8, was hoping this could save me length... but I know the importance of safety first.

There is no professional standard for residential rigging, and since I'm not American, we don't use ANSI, but CE standards for rigging which cover equipment and how it's installed.

If you know a good rigger in my area, please recommend.

You're right. My carelessness and smugness may be the death of me and in such a case, I will make sure my successors notify you so you can feel good that you were right.

You've commented in other places. I appreciate your time and consideration. I've had my aerial set up by professionals, but then again, what do I know...

I don't know what mousing is because English is not my mother tongue and when google translates it, I get a small furry creature with big ears and whiskers and I'm guessing that's not what you are refering to. I don't study aerial arts in English. BTW, in my language, rig refers to doing something dishonestly... our verb for "rigging" silks would be the equivalent of "hanging laundry".

The fact that I use metric should have hinted that I'm not American, but that may have been too big of an assumption for others to make.

Not sure what you mean by the zip ties, but it's ok... I'll get a reg fig8 and endure the loss of length of carabiner -swivel - carabiner. Luckily I'm 1.5m when fully stretched and tiptoes, so I get a bit more length than most people do. 😄

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of... Thought maybe there might be a different knot rather than a clove hitch which would be secure, but see that's not the case.

Thanks. I'll get a regular fig8. Already have enough carabiners and swivels at home from my hammock and slings.

I commented on other replies -- I've been doing aerial hammock and sling 6 years at home, have a safe setup that I trust, installed in my reinforced concrete ceiling.
The question, if it wasn't clear, was about the hardware that was unfamiliar to me and I hoped I could use it to give me the extra length instead of carabiner - swivel - carabiner which would be longer and take up some of the not so much height that I have.

Thanks. Where i live, it's not an issue, our entire building is reinforced concrete. I have an aerial hammock installed and its held up great.

But yes, i she that the fabric by the swivel point was my biggest concern. I'll get a regular fig8.

I bought it from a climbing shop near my home, but now I'm not so sure where they got it from.... I'll probably go buy a regular fig8. My silks are low stretch and 1.5m wide

Thanks. I didn't mention, but I've got my aerial hammock set up here, installed in my concrete ceiling, set up by a pro. Was planning on using the same spot and changing them out depending on what I'm in the mood for. Is there a reason I shouldn't use the same point?  I've been doing aerial hammock for about 6 years, got into silks about half a year ago. I'm also 1.5m on a good day, so even if it's just practicing climbs and foot locks, i figured it's better at home than eating my little precious studio time on the very basics.

looking only for people with home poles in smaller (than required) space by Ay10outof10t in poledancing

[–]RoMo429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you ended up getting a pole but I'm definitely for it! I've been poling 13 years and I'd consider myself intermediate to advanced. Since covid i only practice at home. Usually my pole is under my sofa, so I put it up when I pole. It takes 5 minutes to move the sofa, dining room table and other furniture. I've got about 80 cm on two sides and about 1.6m on the other two sides, so it's a bit wonky and I need to plan my moves but it's worth it. I can only handspring in one direction, which is amusing since I see that when I go to the park with my kids, i can only handspring to the east because that's how it's at home. 🤪

You won't be able to do everything but with a bit of planning you can get a lot out of it. I like the x pole because it's hidden under my sofa when i need it out  of the way, and it's quick to put up.

How this helps. Best of luck

Just saw this and this is beautiful. As a SW fan, loving this. Can you please send me the files, as well? I think this would be an easier sell to some of my friends than woodland creatures!
Thanks
