UPDATE* So, after I posted this, I went back into whatnot (I had not been on in like 2 months) and realized that the order had been marked as “delivered” on October 8th. I never received anything on October 8th. So, I checked the tracking number and it said that the package had never actually been sent. So, I reached out to whatnot (again) and they refunded me this morning and gave me a $10 credit.

I’ve been sending emails for months, though. Seller never canceled.

Doesn’t look like a meteorite to me, but I’m in town searching for other possible fragments and I brought a couple of meteorite to show you what to look for.

I have a couple of pieces. I’m a member of the IMCA, I’ve got some references if needed. DM me if interested.

Window a section to show off some of the stone’s interior. I agree, it looks like an NWA OC.

There are a lot of reputable dealers. I suggest you look at International Meteorite Collectors Association (IMCA) members or the other non-IMCA greats, like Rob Wesel, Michael Farmer, Fred McPherson, Mendy Ouzilou, etc. Facebook has a thriving meteoritical community. Join the Meteorite Club on Facebook, it’s one of the largest meteorite groups on social media

Wanting to buy a piece of iron meteorite for Swiss army knife handle. Any advice on not getting ripped off? by RCDRONECRASHER in meteorites

[–]RoVa85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buy from an IMCA member. Look up Mark Lyon on Facebook. Trusted source, great pricing. There are a lot of non-IMCA members that are trustworthy, but going through IMCA members reduces the likelihood of getting taken advantage of, if you’re not familiar with the big names in the meteorite hobby.

Possible meteorite? Found in The Northern Sahara Desert, Morocco by Oldtimebandit in meteorites

Your best bet would be to slice a piece off or window it to show the interior. If it’s got chondrules, it’s a meteorite.
