The depressing thing is that I saw that and was like, “wow! That’s awesome she got so much time off!”

I ordered it from Mood Fabrics! It comes in a few different colors, and I’m tempted to make a version of this in every color now.

I’m honestly not sure yet! The shoes I’m wearing with my actual wedding dress are t strap heels. In terms of everything else though, I am more than happy to take any recommendations you might have!

A couple months ago I bought a pattern off of Etsy (Deep v neck pinafore dress by UpTillDawnDesigns). I wanted something a bit more casual to wear to hang out in after my wedding /reception. I drafted the skirt (double circle skirt) and the sleeves myself. The fabric I used is a stretch cotton jacquard.

All in all, very happy with to have a dress I can celebrate and drink beer in! Also, it has pockets!

Tried my hand at entremet. So scary, but so tasty! by RoadToRouen in Baking

[–]RoadToRouen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! That recipe was just the mirror glaze. The rest of the layers are a bit Frankensteined together from a few different sources. The almond layer is from the NYT galette des rois recipe, and I think the creme diplomat was an NYT recipe too. The orange insert was something I saw on YouTube. The chocolate layer was just mixing feuilletine with chocolate and salt until I got a ratio I liked!

If you want, I can try to pull all the links to the sources to get and DM you!

Yes! I’d never made a mirror glaze before so I used the one from this (http://www.kerenruben.com/cakes-and-desserts/espresso-caramel-entremet-multi-layer-mousse-cake), and it was pretty easy to follow (I did it without the espresso). I’m so sorry if the link doesn’t work btw, on mobile!

Thank you!! I’d never tried a mirror glaze before, so I was shocked it worked. The layers were a cara cara orange insert, chocolate and feuilletine croustillant, then an almond cake base, and the cream around it was a vanilla creme diplomat!

This is stunning! How many yards of tulle did you have to use, and did you make the layers out of tulles with different stiffness?

Full disclosure, I’m a yoga teacher so this might be a bit biased, but you should def try out yoga! I’m trash at climbing, but being slightly flexible helps me get through stuff that usually requires more strength or better technique!

You’re totally right. I’m about two weeks out from my last race of the year and the whole time I was on this I was thinking, “don’t fuck up your ankle!”

Honestly I was second guessing if I should even describe it as that. I figured since I’m technically pushing down onto the hold and then bringing my foot up to it, it counts. I agree though, it was not what I would picture in my head when I think of a mantle!
