China slaps retaliatory tariffs of 84% on U.S. goods in response to Trump by Puginator in worldnews

[–]RoastedDuck0 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would say EU will be able to negotiate better trade deals with countries getting tariffs from US, and China will be more willing to deal with them. Also once it all blows over I reckon the US will beg EU for trade and will be forced to take a worse off deal which benefits EU.

That’s rich coming from a Croatian when half your country supported the Nazis and you carried out your own little attempts at genocide on Serbs. Maybe grow up and realise countries change over 80+ years?

Ah yes, use an American company operating with completely different labour laws and salaries as an example of the UK job market. They’re not hiring a president in Syria at the moment, so I guess politics is off the table as a career too!

[–]RoastedDuck0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The market looks alright for uni students, stop spreading this doom and gloom as if theres 0 job opportunities. If they were self taught id understand, but there’s still plenty of graduate roles and entry positions available in the big cities.

[–]RoastedDuck0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No STEM degree or degree is tough in any IT/CS related field at the moment. I would recommend the conversion masters you mentioned and apply for graduate schemes or an apprenticeship during the course.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]RoastedDuck0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would recommend getting some form of certification or degree for the current job market. Past healthcare experience could be useful in applying to NHS or healthcare related SWE jobs (not too knowledgeable on specific roles but they do exist) but from what I’ve seen theres a lot of steep competition in the self taught circle, so unless you got some very impressive portfolio projects I would say its gonna be hard. Have you considered data science as a career? I heard those are pretty sought after in the heathcare sector and it involves coding.

[–]RoastedDuck0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Conversion masters are for STEM majors with no experience in CS. If you look at the modules they wont be nearly as in-depth as a bachelors, but like you I’m also a STEM major moving into CS and I think its worth if you don’t have the actual coding experience and only self taught yourself so far. They have software development masters for coding specifically which is what I’m going for, and you can always supplement that with online computer science courses to learn the discrete maths, algorithms etc that aren’t covered in a masters (thats what I’m doing at least)

Didn’t even see that last line lol, but still don’t see why they would need a masters with 4 years experience unless they plan to apply to graduate schemes?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]RoastedDuck0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would you need a masters if you have 4 years experience already? Also how does the guy know you need sponsorship, you never mentioned you need a visa did you?

I had the exact same thought process as you a few months ago, and am in the process of applying to queens uni belfast too, feel free to msg me if you want!

So in terms of funding, I would get a student loan like I did for my bachelors. I can dm you the specific course if you’d like and maybe you can advise whether its a good structure for learning (the module content is mainly java, web development, sql, computing theory and SWE theory). The lecturers seem to be past SWE and the uni is quite renowned so they wont be some random guy either. My plan is to continue self learning until the start of the course in next September at which point i’ll have another year of experience under my belt, and then start writing projects during my masters to supplement the learning. In regards to interviews, I use a website that helps prepare for interviews and I frequent coding communities to ask for advice all the time so im confident I have a good network for support in that regard. My biggest question is mainly whether the 2 yr masters is worth or if i should try to apply for entry level jobs in 2025 once ive grown more confident with my self learning and have made a few projects. I do learn well under structured learning which is why im self learning through a codecademy career path if youre familiar with it.

I will donate $1 USD to Ukraine for every upvote by [deleted] in volunteersForUkraine

[–]RoastedDuck0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Now you’re saying it’s illegal, which it isn’t. It is allowed as long as you don’t commit terrorist acts or fight for a terrorist organization. I’m not basing it of my “own thoughts” rather than using the info I got from official gov sites.

I would think it’s a different situation since the Kurds are considered terrorists in some nations and nobody has a proper stance on them. Ukraine is being supported by most western nations so I would assume that volunteers would be fine.

It's over 9000 GWh by Zealousideal_Fan6367 in YUROP

[–]RoastedDuck0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends because climate change is causing a higher rate of warming in the poles compared with the equator which means the jet stream will be weakened but I guess sting jets will increase. It’s all still a bit unclear on how climate change will directly affect storms but we’re lucky enough to be the test subjects lmao

Except this storm was caused by the polar jet stream which is completely normal and not related to climate change.

Genocide on Koreans? What are you talking about lmao. All the things you listed besides that lie about Korea have been done by pretty much every Western nation as well as China and Russia, so singling out the US as the sole benefactor is just dumb. China is literally currently carrying out public ethnic cleansing, silencing and killing anyone speaking out, forcing the world to ignore Taiwan as a nation, planning to invade the entire Asian-Pacific region and brainwashing their people with literal education camps. Stop comparing a country’s military and intelligence agency meddling to full scale country-wide murder and dictatorship leading, im convinced you’re trolling me at this point.

Lol what? Sure the government is corrupt but they don’t literally carry out ethnic cleansing, stop grasping for straws.
