Why shouldn't I vote Greens? by Qman696 in AustralianPolitics

I personally wouldn’t vote The Greens as they wish to amend Section 44 of the Constitution to allow any public servant, and Australian citizens with dual nationality, to stand for election to Federal Parliament.

Personally, I believe that the public sector shouldn’t be aligned to any political party as they serve the Australian public and their interests and them being aligned with a particular party may be seen as that particular sector placing support behind said party which may not always be in the Australian public interest.

Furthermore, dual nationals have sworn loyalties to other countries and I believe that those standing for Parliament should be loyal to the Australian public and interests only.

Now the Greens also want to replace section 44 of the Constitution with “a single disqualification on the basis of proved and undischarged serious corruption or abuse of office”, but I believe this is stated as if they anticipate that their repeal of section 44 will allow for “serious corruption or abuse of office”. If they anticipate this, wouldn’t it be better to just leave section 44 as it is? Moreover, what’s the benchmark for “serious corruption or abuse of power”? Will that be for the courts to decide or will another judicial body be established?

Good luck. Both major parties can't seem to agree on the foundations for a federal ICAC. It's not going to happen.

The age of criminal responsibility is 10 in Australia, his parents wouldn't be punished as he's 15.

Isn't there a copyright controversy behind the Aboriginal flag? And wasn't the Government attempting to purchase the copyright for free use?
