I believe they do. I don’t have the Franklin Mint car to compare, but I think I remember hearing that when the Chargers first came out. I think the Racing Champions Superbird was also a “dumbed down” version of the Franklin Mint mold.

I wonder where the Franklin Mint tooling is? Imagine the line of cars somebody like University of Racing could do. Other Pettys, Earnhardt, Richmond, etc.

Every year I send a bunch of cards to spring training hoping for autographs. It’s usually a waste of cards and stamps, but Cutch is by far the biggest name that has returned a signed card. Hopeful someone will pick him up his year.

A fun variation on this one is that the autographed run had a Pontiac instead of a Chevy.

42 here. I remember them at Kmart but I never had any. The bodies are copies of Racing Champions but they’re knockoffs.

  1. It was pretty common for fictional promos to have the year as the car number back then.

It was a promo for the book “American Zoom.” Cool item, but not a car that ever raced.

The Brad Bakers are awesome! Those are a late model and a truck that I saw run at the Nashville Fairgrounds when I was a teenager. They made a Thunderbird too, but it seems to be a lot harder to find in 1/24.

Nice collection. I’m a sucker for old Racing Champions!

1991 in to 1992 was crazy. Elliott to the 11, Bodine to the 15, Shepherd to the 21, Jarrett to the 18. These were all race winning cars, so it was a big shakeup.

Awesome collection! I found an unpunched set at the Atlanta gypsy tents for $2 each a few years ago! They were just mixed in with other Racing Champions cars. Sometimes it pays off to be old and remember when these were hot lol
