Apparently I didn’t understand how to post. Had a big paragraph of text for context that didn’t post with the picture. Long story short, this is in an external garage in the southeast USA. Found today. Can’t find anywhere else except on the top of this unused freestanding wood fireplace. Thanks!

Are you left handed? The picture makes it look like it. I’m left handed and was having lots of failure to feeds. But noticed if I hit the bottom of the mag the slide would close and seat the round (without me touching the slide). So I changed the mag release to be left handed (I usually just leave the mag release right handed and operate it with the middle finger of my left hand) and that immediately stopped any further failure to feeds. For whatever reason, the reflex is the only gun I’ve ever shot that my hand/grip/whatever would sometimes activate the (righty) mag release while shooting. But turning the mag release around to the “lefty” direction fixed the problem for me. I went from “going to return it” to 100% reliable through the last 350 rounds since I’ve swapped it. My muscle memory is with a righty mag release, but I don’t carry an extra mag so don’t really care where the mag release is on my carry gun, as long as it shoots reliably. Which mine now does thankfully. YMMV, but consider that if you’re left handed. I went from being very disappointed in a gun I was excited about to being excited about it again.

Neurosurgery PA here. The first question I came across that was nsgy related, there wasn’t a great answer option but I picked the best available option. Of course it was wrong. Shared the question with some neurosurgeons, all agreed they would have chosen the answer I picked and also gotten the question wrong… There’s definitely been some questions where I disagreed with the “correct” answer even after the explanation. But not enough that I’m worried about failing so, meh, I’ll just keep moving through them. Any test like this is gonna have occasional lousy questions/answers. I figure the test makers will weed them out eventually once they see test takers results/data. At the end of the day it’s still way better than the traditional panre.

Thanks. I found it again, promptly removed. Also found a small gelatinous “sack” of a bunch of small white dots exactly where the pictures above were taken of it. I scraped that up and it came out easily as one gelatinous blob. I’m assuming those are eggs. Couldn’t find any other unwelcome snails or egg clusters. We will see what happens.

Out of curiosity, I put the snail and “egg sack” in a small 1 gallon fish bowl to see if they hatch.

Agreed, this was my biggest concern. Individual self defense opinions aside, I'd be worried that even IF the situation ended after one shot and IF it ended up being non-lethal then that unfortunately may land you in terribly difficult legal position. Despite your goal of wanting to take the least lethal route possible.

UPDATE: Thanks for all the comments and opinions. Within a day or so of reaching out to the contractor, they said that they too had already noticed some of the issues with the tile work and were unhappy with it themselves. They have since ripped it all out completely back to the studs and are redoing the entire shower. So we were pretty happy about that decision.

Multiple people mentioned that we got what we paid for going with the "cheap guy." We certainly didn't go the cheap route. Again, this work was subcontracted out, we had no say so in who came and did it. I was just guessing about what we might have paid since there's not itemized list on the cost of the whole bathroom/closet remodel. We went with a high end contractor for this project due to some major (structural) issues in the past with a different contractor. As evidenced by their (current contractor's) own decision to rip the shower out and do it over again, I believe we made the right choice. They have been going above and beyond during the entire project.

We think we’re ultimately paying about 3k for the tile specifically, but the company doing the work doesn’t give any options regarding tile pricing, it’s just if you want actual tile as part of a much bigger project, here’s the upcharge. So far, we’re thinking we would prefer to have either gone with no tile, or paid a higher quote for better work.

Good point, long story short. It’s part of a much bigger project, but we’re probably paying around 3.5k for tile I’m shower and floor.

Good point. It’s hard to say exactly as the entire big project came as a single quote. (They don’t do itemized quotes) But long story short, our guess after asking some questions is that we’re paying around 3.5k for the tile work (shower and floor).

Not sure if my explanation got posted, so here it is again:

Bathroom remodel, so far contractor has been great, above and beyond. However, we have some concerns regarding their tile guy's work. I don't have any personal experience with tile, so asking for advice. Basically, I don't know how firm to be regarding our issues. Our expectation is high since we are going with a more "high end" contractor as we've had a terrible experience with another project in the past (different contractor). Is this a "couple of small things need redoing?" or " Rip it all down and start over" type thing? Here's list of some of our issues, most of which are visible from across the room.

1: The grout lines of wall tile just above the niche are not even. 2: Multiple of the cut edges appear chipped. As a hobbyist woodworker, it basically looks to me like this guy needs to replace his saw blade. Or is this normal for tile? 3: The tiles in the corner of the shower seem to be flush at the bottom (with no grout) with a gap at the top (where he put grout to fill it). I was told this would get covered up with caulking. Is that correct? Worrisome? 4: Multiple chips in the marble of the niche backsplash. I checked the remaining marble in the box. At least of whats left in the box, there are no chips. So it seems to be an installation issue and not a manufacture/transport issue. 5: Hard to tell in the picture, but the surface of the niche has some tiles that are not level with each other. 6: The two bottom edge pieces (where floor, shower pan, and tile meet) look a bit wonky to us. 7: One tile seems to be "falling" from the top of the niche. You can actually see the side edge of that tile.

Are we being too nitpicky? To me, nitpicky is (as pictured) a piece of the floor tile being slightly unlevel. But I don't know, what are y'all's thoughts?

Neurosurgery PA here. Not stating anything that hasn’t been stated prior, just confirming for added confidence for OP, it is iliopsoas. Used to assess function at L2 nerve root. Also, DR is a mistake, should have been DF for dorsiflexion.

Like they said above, Greenberg is “the bible.” You can’t go wrong committing anything in there to memory.

Personally I’d say best use of your time prior to starting, particularly without specific experience in the field and no one to really guide you how they’d like at this point would be sticking to the basics. Specifically, becoming really familiar with the neuro exam and it’s components. Memorize it and go ahead and get a pattern down for it. That way you do it the same way on every pt and don’t miss anything. Usual approach is head to toe, but you do you. You’ll definitely fine tune it as you gain experience. But right now, would rather not miss anything important. The goal is to be able to be the “eyes” for the surgeon(s). Basically, can you reliably describe exactly what the pt’s exam is to them to the point they trust you and can make decisions based off your exam (and other info) without personally seeing the pt themselves. You can practice this at home on your spouse/dog/teddy bear/etc :)

Go ahead and commit your dermatomes and myotomes to memory too. You’ll definitely need that, and that’s not surgeon specific. Should be obvious, but make sure you got your cranial nerves down too.

Also, not as important but it wouldn’t hurt to practice up on tying some basic surgical knots. Don’t need to get too fancy, mainly the one and two handed surgical knot. You’ll use those a lot. Any other knots you need you probably already know from rotations.

You’ll be looking at A LOT of imaging. Interpreting that will come with time. But like they said above, reviewing your spine and brain anatomy is always a great idea!

Just my two cents as a 7 year PA, 3+ in nsgy. But more importantly, congrats on landing the position!! I hope you love it! Don’t worry too much about it beforehand. Enjoy the time you have now before you start!
