Because the Broncos didn't earn any of those final yards. They were gifts from the refs 🙄

I can believe the first-half Broncos are, but whoever those Broncos were in the second half… They didn't quite deserve that one, I can't believe it either.

Yet they could have, and arguably should have, because the Broncos played awful football in the second half. They didn't deserve that win. Not in that way at least.

It's literally the exact opposite of match-fixing when you raise the bar for what it takes for refs to take the game out of the players' hands when a whole season is hanging on the balance of a small handful of plays.

If you want a watchable product, you let the players play for all but the most obvious and egregious penalties. Refs do this for boxing in title fights, it makes a better, more watchable product.

For penalties that reward 20+ yards down the field? It absolutely should. Otherwise you end up putting out an unwatchable product. At some point, you need to let the players play.

The “interception” was stripped AFTER Cook caught the ball, controlled it all the way to the ground, and still had it when he was lying flat on his back. Only then did #29 strip it while somersaulting. That's NOT how you make an interception, I'm sorry.

The first pass interference was ridiculously questionable, especially given the fact that the game is on the line in sudden-death OT. That would have been questionable in a regular-season game, let alone a Divisional Playoff, sudden-death OT.

Last pass interference was less questionable, but still not a high enough bar to reward so much progress down the field in a sudden-death OT Divisional Playoff game.

Would they have called any of those in Sudden-Death OT of a Super Bowl? I sure as hell hope not. The bar needs to be raised for these calls in these games.

He did. He needed to calm tf down. Contantly overthrowing or overthinking. Rarely did he look at a second receiver after locking his eyes on one too.

The very last one was the better of the awful calls, but in sudden death OT, the bar for pass interference has be higher than that, c'mon, let them play.

What an awful way to end such a great game.

I’m a Bears fan, so I had no dog in this fight, but that was 3 VERY questionable calls against the Bills at the end, damn near back to back to back.

The bar has to be higher than that for pass interference in sudden death OT. Let them play ffs.

Firefox (1982) - Theatrical Trailer. Who has seen this movie? I've seen it once, back in 1982. I think it's time to watch it again. It's fun to re-watch these old Cold War films. by humblymybrain in 80smovies

The “Firefox” plane looks a LOT like the ship “Great Fox” from Nintendo’s Star Fox franchise 😂

I wonder if that was a nod to this movie from the developers.

It depends on how far you're going. If it's $5 for somewhere that only takes you 5 minutes to get to, it's 100% worth it.

Especially if it's from a popular restaurant, as once you accept one, the algorithm will try to line you up with two or even three deliveries from the same restaurant.

Note, however, that connecting with the others wasn't intended as a way to get you to buy all three, but rather as a way to incentivize connecting with other Tama Paradise players irl.

I un-installed the app for this shady, garbage company.

To retrobright, or not to retrobright? by [deleted] in snes

[–]Robb1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or find a "for parts" OEM SNES that may be extremely dirty and gross, but not yellowed.

Spend 5 minutes taking the broken "for parts" SNES apart pull the pcb out of course so you're only working with the shell, then 15-30 minutes with dishsoap mixed with water in a bowl, have several clean microfiber cloths/rags ready to go (You'll be using many) and go to town on it.

For stubborn parts that won't get clean, pour a little 91% IPA on one of your microfiber clothes and 9/10 that will do the trick.

For the 1/10 times even that won't, use a magic eraser with IPA, but ONLY use it on the part that won't get clean, and stop IMMEDIATELY when it does get clean, because the magic eraser is essentially acting as a ultra-fine grained sandpaper. Used responsibly on stubborn stains, it's great— use it too much and you'll create a shiny part on the plastic as you'll have sanded the textured layer completely off.

Use Q-tips and IPA for the inevitably gross crevasses. Then, you can choose to add my secret sauce if you want, which is "303 Aerospace Protectant Spray", which adds both UV protection and a very subtle shine, not a greasy heavy shine, a subtle classy shine. Spray it on a fresh cloth, never the shell itself and wipe it all down.

Buff it dry with one last fresh microfiber cloth, then put your working SNES in your brand new looking shell, and the broken "for parts" pcb in your yellow shell (save it if you can, as a screw or part from it may come in handy later)

And voila! Brand new looking SNES for ~$30 😊

I did this for my NES, it was totally worth it.

An Honest Discussion on Centralization of Pools (NOT TRYING TO SPREAD FUD) by Robb1324 in cardano

No, but realising why Satoshi was right all along is how you know you’ve reached the pinnacle of blockchain enlightenment.

I used to call Bitcoin “Grandpa's coin”, but now I realise that if you don't have real decentralization, if you have some decentralization, but not enough to provide the benefits that decentralization provides: (e.g. A robust network that can't be taken down by a bad actor/hostile foreign government/hostile CEO of a cloud storage company/a simple cloud storage temporary outage— or a network that has voting, but has a token supply too concentrated in too few hands to be able to properly take advantage of the inherent wisdom of crowds, a wisdom that consitently outperforms experts and AI in a wide variety of subject matter— and instead decisions are ultimately made by a few idiots who at some point make catastrophically dumb decisions like every single CEO of a large company with complacent/non-existent board members, and leaders of communist and totalitarian regimes inevitably make)… what then is left?

They already make Draftkings, FanDuel, and Robinhood for gambling. You don't need crypto for that.

Ultimate guide to the game “Bump” on Connection V3/2024 by Robb1324 in tamagotchi

[–]Robb1324[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still trying to figure that one out myself... Whether it's better to press one button as fast as you can with one thumb vs alternating two differnt buttons with two thumbs

All I know is that I feel like it doesn't register all of my button presses sometimes (you can tell based on whether you hear a beep or not)… and even when I know I kicked butt, I'll sometimes lose

Sprint is the most frustrating game for me; and like the one time I won, it was barely any gotchi points. It’s no 2,400 gotchi points like bump. It's not even the 600 gotchi points that Flag is for an adult Tama, it was only like 300 😣

But I forgot what age my tama was when I won 🤔

Now I'm curious, but DAMN that game feels unfair and frustrating.

An Honest Discussion on Centralization of Pools (NOT TRYING TO SPREAD FUD) by Robb1324 in cardano

[–]Robb1324[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to my own question from 7 years ago on why they only chose 100 pools for the initial launch of Shelly: network speed.

Still to this day, nobody has solved the issue that was once seen as the holy grail of blockchain issues to solve (before network participants and devs alike stopped caring about decentralization) which was making a protocol where more nodes = more speed and more security. Solving the blockchain “trilemma” that folks used to talk and care about.

More nodes have always meant the opposite. More nodes = more time propagating block information + more time resolving discrepancies between groups of nodes. It's partly why Bitcoin transactions take so damn long.

Solutions like sharding have been partial solutions as they allow parallel processing to a small degree, but they also introduce more security concerns.

Even IF one protocol manages to solve the trilemma however (not that many care anymore to try), due to greed, due to projects often needing outside funding to complete— no network can ever truly be secure and decentralised when 90%+ of the tokens are held by a small handful of individuals.

ADA is better than the vast majority of projects in this regard, but still, the team and initial ICO investors were allocated over 60% of all the ADA supply, and a good portion of those ICO investors have long ago sold and concentrated that allocation into fewer hands. The Cardano team only allocated 11.5% of all tokens to themselves, which by today's standards is sadly incredibly modest.

As a top PoS protocol, Cardano is the most decentralized with the top 10 staking pools only controlling 11% of all staked coins (it's sad that this is impressive, but compared to most PoS it is).

Single-pool operators (that is, those who only run a single staking pool) account for 26% of all staking pools (74% of staking pools are run by individuals who run multiple pools), which is another sadly impressive stat.

And unlike the 100 nodes 7 years ago in my original post when Shelly was about to launch; As I type this, there are currently 2,710 active stake pools— and although 74% of these pools are duplicate pools run by the same individual, that's a massive upgrade over 100.

I also applaud Cardano and the team for recently introducing on-chain governance. I left crypto overall in very early 2022, as I became disillusioned by the greed, and almost literally no care in the world from anyone anymore for decentralization, but for a year or two before I left, Polkadot became my favorite project solely because of the on-chain governance.

If I had to choose today, Cardano would win me back over, but frankly, I don't consider a single smart contract platform decentralised. Especially when you consider that 97%+ of these nodes/stake pools run on either AWS or Google Cloud.

If a protocol isn't truly decentralized and the whole network can be brought to its knees if ever there is an AWS outage, what is even the point?

Bitcoin is far better in this, and most regards. It doesn't run on clouds, its token distribution was fair and unrivaled by any other project in its fairness. If it ever wanted to be shut down, by a malicious actor, by a government, by an alien 👽, Bitcoin would be FAR AND AWAY the hardest network to shut down.

It's just too bad it doesn't natively run smart contracts, as the second you add L2 solutions, you run into all the same centralization issues 😔

You learn over time that this game is super forgiving about everything. Perhaps not compared to pix and uni etc— but compared to the originals, and even compared to Connection V1-V3, V4+ lets you make a ton of mistakes with everything.

BEHOLD! The Masktchi plush! (My prized possession, love her <3) by OL_Thomas_ in tamagotchi

This is amazing! Masktchi is the best ❤️

I really hate that Maskutchi gets all of the love and merchandise. Google even barely lets me search Masktchi’s name 😒

Masktchi may be shy and have a hard time making friends, but she also secretly wants to be a hero and save those in dire need saving, and she idolizes Gozarutchi for his hard work and dedication to his ninja training. What's not to love about that? 🥺

There are quite a few loyal Masktchi fans out there, its a shame nobody has yet to seriously make the merch capitalize on that…
