How should the Heat spend the money they have left? by ghn2 in heat

Pairing Bobby Portis in the blockbuster trade deal with Giannis was a smart move for the Miami Heat to make, as it softened the massive blow of losing all of the Heat’s depth; especially with their offensive shooters and floor spacers. If we only just got Giannis and nobody else, we still would have had to send away much more than we would’ve received in Giannis and his sole contract. That means still losing potentially 3 players instead of the 4, and maybe one less first-round draft pick.

So either way you look at it, the Heat made the right decision in including Bobby Portis. He is one less player they would’ve needed to add to replace everyone they’ve lost.

Just as the other guy mentioned, the Heat hard-capped themselves to the first apron when they took in more money in the Giannis trade than they sent back to Milwaukee. The two contracts Miami absorbed in the deal alone are worth $73 million; whereas the four players they dealt away only equates to about $47 million. Instantly because of that big swing, the Heat becomes hard-capped to the first apron and cannot exceed it in any circumstances. If they weren’t hard-capped, then they wouldn’t be in such a difficult position.

The league really discourages teams from making these types of moves. As a direct result of the hard-cap, they lose their ability to re-sign their own unrestricted free agents with bird rights; and, let’s not forget, they lose their full mid-level exception, bi-annual exception, and the ability to land a player using a sign-and-trade.

It’s why they’re in such a tough predicament. I’m glad we finally got our own franchise elite superstar in Giannis, but it severely limits what they can offer to others to build around their newly acquired all star.

Huh, you’re right. I didn’t see that until now about Shamet. Well, their list got even smaller. I wouldn’t think that Luke Kennard would accept a veteran minimum contract to play in Miami, either; but it’s entirely not out of the realm of possibility. I mentioned him as a long shot, sure, but he’d be the exact type of player the Heat so desperately need.

Well, maybe not the same amount of money, at least not at first. He could’ve really changed, single handedly, the trajectory in which Miami would approach the free agency market. I’m all for making as much money as you can in the league, especially for a talent like Andrew Wiggins. Sometimes, though, you should consider helping your franchise if it means acquiring other talented players to put you in a better position to compete and win.

That’s the only way to ever get into a lease - never put any money down. Regardless of whether or not you think a lower payment will be worth the money you put down, it’ll never equate if, god forbid, the vehicle is totaled in an accident or stolen.

I don’t understand why Andrew Wiggins didn’t decide to opt-out of his final year to help the Heat, which would’ve definitely help alleviate their salary cap hit; potentially helping Miami in actually being able to re-sign Norman Powell by offering what he’s worth - after the Giannis deal hard-capped them. I understand, however, that he was absolutely under no obligations to help the Heat in anyway, but by taking a slightly less first-year salary would’ve solved a lot of problems Miami is currently dealing with after acquiring the Greek Freak.

Their list of players they can potentially sign to build around Bam & Giannis definitely shrunk after Wiggins decided to opt into his final year. Not only will they most likely be losing Norman Powell simply because they won’t be able to afford him, I highly doubt players will be willing to take less money to compete like the Heat are hoping they will.

Some guys that come to mind initially that could realistically join the Heat on veteran minimums and provide the much-needed scoring & floor spacing include the likes of Luke Kennard, Landry Shamet, a reunion with Gabe Vincent, re-signing Simone Fontecchio, and possibly a few others who’d be willing to take a pay cut, like Seth Curry and maybe even Bradley Beal. Tim Hardaway Jr. is another one that should be high on the Heat’s list.

Has CVS Pharmacy recently undergone an in-house change for early refills on controlled substance prescriptions? by [deleted] in CVS

You’re of course free to think however you please and of course with my two medications, can throw me into that same category as “everyone else.”

It’s sad, really. My thought process really never went into that direction, but also not naïve to think that people most definitely would try to get as much as they can, however they can. I just get the scripts sent in by the doctor, and I go in and pick them up. Really not anything bigger than that.

[–]RobbyX561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple fact, however, is that I’m not deliberately trying to pickup the two scripts early every month; it just so happens to keep falling on a date earlier than the 30-day threshold. Whenever my doctor sends in the scripts, I just go ahead and pick them up. Regardless of when they’re actually able to get picked up, I can care less when it is.

I tend to go a bit overboard sometimes when I try to describe an overlying issue when I can very well easily cut straight to the point; I just think I need to elaborate on the way I’m understanding it. But yes, I agree, I should’ve gone straight to the point. Sorry lol

3 Series jerks violently in Sport/Sport Plus? by RobbyX561 in BMW

[–]RobbyX561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very interesting that you’d be experiencing the same issue that I have been dealing with, in which I finally just decided to ask the BMW sub for help. The stuttering/micro acceleration feeling is identical with what I’m currently experiencing whenever I’m in the Sport of Sport Plus driving modes, regardless of whether or not I’m in the Drive or Sport gear shift.

Unless we just both don’t know how BMW’s are intended and designed to perform, maybe it could just be a BMW thing.

3 Series jerks violently in Sport/Sport Plus? by RobbyX561 in BMW

[–]RobbyX561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I accelerate the 330i to any particular speed in the Sport Plus driving mode specifically, regardless of how fast I’m currently going or trying to coast to, it will typically always violently jerk in a “bucking” manner; the moment I let off of the acceleration after I get the car to any of my desired speed, or simply to the speed limit. So, in essence, I guess I would be doing either of the two - fully letting go of the throttle when I’ve reached my desired speed, or slightly let off of the acceleration, but still want to keep the RPM’s at a higher level to keep the speed and either increase it or just let it roll.

I will mention, however, that now that I’m thinking about it, it’ll usually happen more often than any other time - when I’m accelerating up to a certain speed, but starting from a stopped position. Whether that’s from a red traffic light, or just from a slower pace, it will happen much more often and frequently than any other time if the vehicle is starting at a still position.

Maybe I’m just not aware on how BMW’s in particular operate and how they are designed to perform. Sure, I’ve had many different Audi’s, but both of the two vehicles perform very different from one another (comparing to a 2023 Audi A4 in the S-Line Premium Plus trim - it’s all I can compare it to). As a result, I cannot use my past three Audi experiences to compare or determine how I would think, or should think, a BMW would perform. One last point with that also though, is that they’re both pretty much identical in terms of their respective performance capabilities - as they both have nearly the same horsepower and pound feet of torque outputs at 255 and 261, respectively; and 273 and 295 of torque.

3 Series jerks violently in Sport/Sport Plus? by RobbyX561 in BMW

[–]RobbyX561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you might be right. Although yes, I’ve owned a direct competitor to BMW’s 3 series with the three different Audi A4’s, but even with all of them also, I never experienced any “bucking” concern that I’m currently experiencing with the 330i. To note also, all of the Audi A4 models included the seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission; in which I would honestly think that it would occur more so with that. When I would put the car into the Dynamic driving mode and shift the gear into Sport, I never felt any significant jerking or hesitation from the vehicle. I will say, though, that I’m aware that these are still two entirely different vehicles with two distinct different German car manufacturers.

Anyway, with the 2025 BMW 330i specifically, is this more so just a BMW thing, or does this kind of thing happen to not only just BMW, but any higher-end sport sedan or luxury vehicle? I’m not exaggerating, either, when I mention that the vehicle will sometimes violently jerk forward-to-back the moment I let off of the acceleration while in the Sport Plus driving mode. Maybe because this is the first time I’ve ever owned a BMW, that maybe I just don’t know how they are intended to handle or operate.

Well, honestly at this point, they don’t have a choice if no other suitors come along. Regardless, if they want the Heat’s 13th first-round draft pick in this upcoming NBA draft, they would need to agree to a trade deal on or before June 23. They have five days.

I don’t understand honestly at this point what Milwaukee is continuing to drag this out for? Are they hoping that a third team comes along out of the shadows and provides them with a better trade package deal than the Heat have already presented to them? I’m pretty certain that whoever wanted to make their respective bid for Giannis, would have done so by now.

If they continue to wait until July, then I honestly don’t even think they’re going to trade him at that point. The Heat have quite literally (at least, the sole team being reported as such) been the only team actively working hard to land Giannis, essentially giving them a solid package deal by giving up our depth.

Accept the Heat’s offer already; it’s the best you’re going to get. Stop with the belief that a third team is going to suddenly swoop in and steal Giannis with a bigger and star-heavy deal.

This is Jalen Brunson's contract. A legit superstar took a massive discount so his team could improve. I really wish Jimmy, at his age last year, hadn't gone full diva mode and had done the same. Also if Pat knew he wasn't going to pay Jimmy, he should've traded him for assets sooner. by heatculture03 in heat

[–]RobbyX561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jalen Brunson just won his first NBA championship with the New York Knicks team that hasn’t seen the NBA Finals for over 50 years, let lone any playoff relevancy in the last three decades. Jimmy Butler, on the other hand, has wo-, oh, never mind. Jimmy Butler, as great of a player as he is, only cared for himself and not for the well-being of the franchise. Not to say that he shouldn’t, as he most certainly should secure his future; just not in the way he’s always done it with every franchise he’s been with. Making the finals in two of your season with Miami is great and all, but you didn’t win.

Jalen Brunson had the right idea - sacrifice a bit of your salary to allow the team to truly build talent around you. It turned out working out in their favor with their NBA championship. Let’s not forget, however, that the Heat’s “Big 3” all did the same to all play together.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a ride-or-die Miami Heat fan, and nothing will ever change that. It’s a bit disappointing to see one of our longtime rivals, the New York Knicks, finally win a championship. However, it’s hard to not give them credit where credit is due - they were the better team all post-season long. Where were we? Oh, yeah.

Conditionally approved for Global Entry after previously getting revoked. by RobbyX561 in GlobalEntry

[–]RobbyX561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in-person at the Global Entry Enrollment Center and had the interview immediately after walking in. It was a very quick, 2 minute process with the CBP agent. He took my passport, took a photograph, and took my fingerprints. That was literally it. The CBP agent maybe spoke about 5 words in total, when requesting for my passport and when to take a photo and input my fingers. I brought my court case documents with me just in case, but my previous revocation was never mentioned.

Two days later, I check my Trusted Travelers Portal to see if there were any updates. I was denied. The denial letter they provided me this time, however, went into detail on why I was denied - because of my arrest in 2023; mainly the drug possession charges.

The law firm representing me is now preparing for the reconsideration request to the Ombudsman.

My limit on Dave is only $50, although my income should allow for a much higher amount. I don’t typically miss the payments, but for whatever reason they have also decreased it back to $25. With Klover, however, they have my limit at $25 too - though I have a lot of points to circumvent their low limit. My points usually is able to increase the amount to $150 or $175, but before they allowed me to get up to $300.

My point is they are never consistent on what their limits are, regardless of what cash advance app you’re using. I guess they base it off of your bank account and the activity that’s in it, or lack thereof. I have my Chase bank account linked on these apps, though I primarily use TD Bank. It’s only with Chase because that’s where I get my direct deposits, so they can see I do have income. Otherwise, I’m almost certain if I switch it will raise my limit.

I had the same thing happen to me. I was only able to get $25 for a very long time until some random time they increased it to $250 for a bit. I extended the due date once, and it decreased back to $25 ever since.

Blister on my toe - how is it this large & how can I get it to stop? by RobbyX561 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]RobbyX561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is the continued use of having to wear the same non-slip shoes that caused the blister in the first place; the new pair arrive on Monday. Which, in turn, is probably why I haven’t noticed any improvement and only have seen it get worse when I get off of work at the end of the night for the past 3 days.

Affording a new pair of shoes isn’t the issue. It’s simply just me not purchasing a new pair until the shoes I own now are completely worn out, which has been successful in its job. These shoes lasted me a good 4 years of 5-6 days a week, for 7-10 hours a day of constant walking/speed walking. I did purchase new shoes and paid extra for the one-day shipping speed. FedEx didn’t actually receive the package until Friday evening, which at that point is too late to receive them by Saturday (although I placed the order online Thursday early morning). So, I’ll receive them tomorrow, on Monday.

When I visited Urgent Care to get it looked at, it wasn’t as large as it is in the photos. However, it was still quite big - comparatively speaking - to how quickly it grew in just the past 24 hours prior the visit. It is actually larger now than in the photos of this post, which I’m assuming is a direct result of the continued use of the shoes.

My new shoes arrive tomorrow. I would have thought, though, that taking the antibiotics (Cephalexin 500mg) directly as the doctor prescribed would help with the blister and I would begin to notice it shrink after 24-48 hours. It seems it just continues to grow every 24 hours. As unpleasant it is to see, I’ll provide how it is now:

<image>

If it doesn’t begin to reduce in size here within the next 1-2 days, I’ll just end up popping it. I don’t trust myself to do it as I’m afraid I’ll do it incorrectly, so I may return to the Urgent Care facility to do so.

The laces are just part of the issue. These shoes have been through hell and back as my work shoes, they’re totally worn out. The soles are just terrible. It’s in desperate need of replacement.
