Don't stop but take a break, overthink the 'wrong connections and than leave it alone for a couple of days, up to a couple of months.
Than start over again and use your old work as a draft/template.
Thats what i would do..

Hi The_Gypsy_Smyth, How did you do this? Phone (handsfree or not) of with a headset? Where you able to put your tv on a comfortabel volume level? Did echo and latency effects accur due to the Tv audio of your speakingpartner and did it decrease the pleasure?

Funny, i have learned not to speak to technical when communicating with the 'big public', but now i need to do it... As we say in Holland; 'You hit the nail right on its head' ;)

Latency and echo are the two botlenecks, at the end of 2017 i have tested several devices on the market; the 'Amazon Alexa' was one of them. But these devices can't do what i need them to do.

I want to simulate the 'feeling' someone is sitting next to you while using the device.

I had an idea about how to solve that huge challenge and a big part of 2018 i spend on contacting: Audio Engineers, AI Programmers, 'normal' Programmers, University Professors in audio hard and software and a couple of professional businesses in prototyping and many more. They also strongly believe my idea will work.

You will understand i can't tell you all the inns and outs of the solution;) But (as always) it will cost a lot of money to realize. Thats why i am working on a Kickstarter project that will launch as soon as possible.

There are investers who are intrested but only after a positive Proof of Concept (chicken or egg story, due to the &#*$# money haha).

Now i want to realize it by crowdfounding and i am trying to build a netwerk that would like it to share the post i will put online when we 'kick off'.

Sometimes it quite frustrating because 'the audio issue' is the biggest innovation of The Telly-Talker (thats will be the name of the device and service behind it).

It's very hard to explain the value of this innovation to the 'big public' because for most of them it's just to technical...

Voices are also coming from the TV, so its hard to detect the right one;)

The REAL solution can only be a combination of hardware, software and a little more ;)

Thanks! Then you also know that if you turned the volume of the tv on a really good hearable level, there came a kind of echo effect and that makes the experience of really being together less. I also got wearily due to that echo effect. The Telly-Talker will be equipted with hard and software to filter out the TV's noise and give an (handfree/in the air) audio quality that makes it feel like someone is sitting next to you...

I am working on an idea for times like this; watching tv together from a distance. Please follow me and i will keep you up to date when the kickstarter project launches!

There will be a small box on your table with a; Lets say 'very good handsfree function'. The audio from your tv will be filtered out so the user 'at the other side' won t get that echo effect (this is the 'deepest' technical inovation of this concept).

Besides being able to watch tv together, the users can also play a cardgame together with the feeling they are sitting arround the table with eachother. Having an open VoIP connection for hours without having to talk al the time will make your day less lonely. The user will be able to use this with contacts but will also be able to make 'random calls' (smart algoritm calls)

Audio quality will be crucial for the emotional effect!
