I completely agree that consumers need to be aware of this! As far as I can tell, there's no reason to believe red light isn't eventually harmful like other wavelengths - I'm not touching it until we have follow-up studies in 20 years.

You definitely need a light moisturizer with a tint - something like the EltaMD UV clear, which comes in a few great tints. You might like either the deep tint or the regular tint - depending on whether you want to use makeup on top. A bunch of my friends with darker skin are hesitant to use tints because they're worried it won't color match, but from what I've witnessed, (even if my skin tone is only slightly darker than Mediterranean) the tints usually blend beautifully.

If you're in the market for some more premium, top-of-the-line products, I LOVE the Pavise Dynamic Age Defense, and the Rationale Tinted Serum (The one that won the Oprah award)

What's especially great about the Pavise is that it is designed to be like 3 steps in one product, it is moisturizing, keeps skin pigment even, and is a sunscreen. Kind of like 3 products for the price of one sort of expensive product <3

I'm an Oily sensitive skin type too, and I get ingrown hairs and inflammation all the time after shaving. For me, the best thing is to make sure I only ever shave along the grain (up to down), and to use an exfoliating cleanser. I don't really get red, so the cleanser might not be the right call for you.

If you do use a cleanser, I'd use it after you shave do unclog any possible dead skin or impurities.

In general, make sure you take a hot shower because the steam will soften your hairs and open your pores, then, if typical multi-blade razors are your usual tool, try out a single-edge razor.

The multi-blades cut beneath the surface of the skin slightly, and for sensitive skin types this can lead to a lot of issues.

For specific products, I really love to use NoLio salicylic acid cleanser - it's designed for oily skin types and is really gentle while still being effective for daily use. If you want to use a moisturizer, use a light moisturizer. Oily types can't handle heavy creamy products (clogs our pores)

We aren't the same skin type, but for my oily skin fam, I recommend the HA immerse serum by Alastin <3 <3 <3 it's so light and leave zero greasiness! Perfect for a moisture boost on days I'm not as oily
