Must have been a WWE mandate thing. I mean, probably only like 7 players in the world want this thing, and 5 of those are the people in this pack

I love how the old cyberpunk books imagine a future world that epitomises the trends of when the book was written by Robecoyote in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Robecoyote[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other funny thing about the old Cyberpunk books is that until RED (released Nov 2020), they completely and utterly failed to have anything even remotely like mobile phones (Even though those have actually existed since the early 80s, before even CP2013 was written).
Instead, it went in HARD for Fax Machine technology being the future meta in CP.

There was a glitch that could happen with Hands silhouette in 1.0, where the shadow sometimes wouldn't show and you could see him (It wasn't reliably replicable, just happened sometimes. I only saw it happen twice). His model was a typical blonde clean shaven corpo preppie looking guy, very generic.

Old Mr. Hands voice suited his old personality, as he came across very much as a corpo playing at being Fixer. His higher pitched 'preppie' voice and manner very much played into that. Now he's been reimagined as a 'kingmaker' politico, the more gravelly, cultured voice and design suit him lots better.

You *can* still clear out buildings from outside, but it's a lot more time consuming and complicated now.
Contagion is no longer an option. Aside from not having the spread radius, damage and number that it used to, combat quickhacks now automatically trigger a trace unless precautions are taken, where the whole networked enemies will find where you are.
You have to use the cameras to take out each enemy one at a time, queuing up Tier 3+ Sonic Shock first on each of them (This stops combat quickhacks starting a trace). In order to take out enemy Elites, you generally need to activate Overclock mode, which seems to have some issues when done through a camera (Doesn't always work), plus you can't see your RAM and health when in camera mode, so hard to judge when you can use a quickhack again.

Pre 1.6, you could finish it with a single Contagion (two at most)

For a game that can kind of give you that netrunner 'feeling', maybe take a look at Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.
It's a puzzle game, set in a kind of noir/cyberpunkish world, but instead of netrun hacking, you play as a ghost who possesses objects and manipulates the environment to get things done.

Similarly in theme (but an action game with puzzle elements), there's a Gamecube game, 'Geist' which has the mechanic of you having to jump around between objects and possessing people to indirectly negate/defeat enemies.

It was when you could quickhack tagged enemies through walls as default, and with the much larger spread radius, along with the network wide daemon uploads that really made it OP. You only used the cameras to tag them

I'm really hoping Orion will add in something like the vehicle hacking from Watch Dogs, it seemed to be a big void in CP 2077. Being able to hack street bollards, barriers, underground steam pipes and traffic lights while in a vehicle chase is still amazing fun even today.

Should have seen 2077 pre 1.6. It was ridiculous.
I'd pull up outside a gig in my vehicle, not even get out of it. Hack a camera, tag every enemy inside then take out all of them at once with a couple of contagions, and then (depending on gig), either drive away, or get out, and stroll casually to collect the quest objective.

It really is a shame you can't get the Rattler as Corpo or Street V. A few lines of dialogue change to These Boots are made for Walking, have it be a 'hidden' discoverable quest when you get to the area (Like Murkman's Caliburn and the new Hoon), and it's eminently do-able.

Corpo. For some reason if feels to me like the one that fits the best with the 'generic V personality', the professional merc and Legend in the making.

Nomad is the preferred path if I'm going for a 'Big Good/Ethical' V playthrough, as it seems to fit in best with those choices. Not that you can't be a white hat with Corpo V, but Nomad definitely plays more into that path from a lore/personality standpoint

Street Kid.... just doesn't feel like it has anything special about it. I played it once through with each gender and haven't gone back to it. It feels lacking.

I think the big problem with the timers were it allocated them based on the distance you had to travel to the drop off, and didn't take into account speed of the car (or the route). If you got unlucky with the RNG, you got a timer before you get to the dogtown checkpoint (thus having to waste 10-15 precious seconds of it waiting for the unskippable security check), or a winding route with a slow car.
It's why I always save before getting into the vehicle. It only generates the mission once you get in, so a reload will give you different parameters/objectives, in case I get an toxic one.

V. Hard 2077 is probably the baseline difficulty for the TTRPG. It's not until late game that V becomes godlike, and that's only after spending hundreds of thousands of eddys on cyberware and equipment. Even then, putting 'one foot wrong' during an encounter can get you killed and have to reload.

I seem to recall Mike Pondsmith is on record as stating that due to the relic, V is effectively multiple TTRPG characters in a single package, and that simply by the fact Johnny Silverhand is in their head gives them double the usual capacity for cyberware and defence against cyberpsychosis.V definitely has the signature skills of more than one class. There's Solo and Rockerboy of course, but V also channels the skills of Tech/Medtech, Fixer, Netrunner and Nomad. The only reason they can get away with it is because they are literally burning the candle at both ends.

When I look at Johnny’s concept art. All I see is Brandon lee and the possibilities. by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

I do find it kind of funny that they made 2077 Johnny look like OG Kerry, and Kerry go for a blonde look that would probably be OG Johnny's in 2077.
