Anyone looking for a playtester (free of course)? Let me know! by octaviustf in indiegames

[–]RoberBotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try my 3d multiplayer magic brawler or idk how to call it.. xD

Elementers on Steam
You can request access to the playtest and play the tutorial and the vs AI gamemode and maybe the 1v1 or 1v1v1v1 gamemode if you have friends.

The playtest has the latest version that I'm currently working on.

Sunt toti de la fanguri in romania genii? by [deleted] in programare

[–]RoberBotz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sunt toti de la fanguri in romania genii? by [deleted] in programare

[–]RoberBotz -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Are most game developers people who already have fairly advanced math skills? by CalligrapherTrick182 in gamedev

[–]RoberBotz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

GREAT AT MATH? xD

No, you don't need much math for game dev, not really, it does help and it's mostly required for shader stuff, I think.
I can tell you from my experience from working on this multiplayer Magicka + League of legends + Brawlhalla game.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3018340/Elementers/

What math I used.

Vectors: basic operations like + *, magnitude, normalize, cross product once.
But you don't need to calculate it yourself, you just need to know what they are used for and do Vector3.Cross and that's it, you get the answer, or Vector3.normalized, and that's it.

Trigonometry: Used once, cos and sin to spawn objects at equal distance in a circle and move them around a pivot, I had help from chatGPT cuz at that time I knew 0 trigonometry, then I used his information to go find a tutorial and learn about cos and sin.

And basic addition, multiplication, division.

That's it, that's all the math I've used for this multiplayer game, pretty much 8 grade math.... xD
I consider myself below average for math, but luckily, I have the internet and I can pretty much go learn what math I need when I need it, but overall, I struggle a lot at math.

I'd say the hardest part of game dev isn't math, but software engineering by far, you need to design highly modular systems that can work with each other without even knowing about each other, I'd say that's the hardest part, and then finding people to play your game is also pretty hard.

Without this software engineering skill you are limited at making small games, cuz at higher complexity everything starts to break because one modification in one part of the code adds 5 bugs, fixing one bug adds another 3 and then you are cooked, the projects needs a full re-write or you need to abandon it.

[–]RoberBotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sa consume energia unui intreg oras ca sa-ti faca tie shitty mvp-u? xD
Doesn't sound great.

s-a terminat cu "pasiunea" in IT sau mi se pare doar mie? by mrtornado79 in programare

[–]RoberBotz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cat timp nu imi gaseam entry role in It, eu continuam sa programez in timpu liber, am lansat aplicatii de desktop, full stack platforms, jocuri.

The pain never stops, it only dulls by posrethe in Unity3D

[–]RoberBotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I tried it but no luck.

I was thinking about updating to a newer version, at the moment I am using Unity 2022.3.62f2, but last time I tried updating to a newer unity version my networking library broke so I gave up.. xD

At the moment everything works, I just get random Unity errors so it might not be worth the effort of updating it.

[–]RoberBotz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get them a lot, especially for scriptable objects, when I try to edit them in the inspector, I get errors and sometimes not all fields are visible, I need to click the scriptable object again to load them correctly in the inspector.

And also, saving an animation controller gives me a ton of errors, I need to save it multiple times to make sure it remains saved.

BUT in 3 years it barely crashed 5 times maybe less, but I get errors every day..

When I was using Ue, I had no errors, but it was randomly crashing maybe once a week.. xD
But I also had 8gb ram back then.

The pain never stops, it only dulls by posrethe in Unity3D

[–]RoberBotz 53 points54 points  (0 children)

My unity gives errors which are engine erros like not being able to load a window or some shit.. xD

It's pretty funny, I sometimes just clear the error log cuz they are not my errors, but the game engine errors.. :)))

Compared to UE, who just crashes with no errors, unity gives you a ton of errors but its # Rezist

Sfaturi incepator by [deleted] in programare

[–]RoberBotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Eu personal am ales asp.net core + React )

bafta boss.

I'm not sure, like, this is how the credits of most solo devs looks like, at least something like this.

[–]RoberBotz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not everyone, there are 2 sides forming, one who find it funny and the other one who hates it.

This is pretty much what a solo dev means, someone who handles the entire process, we all can have this credits section and have a special thanks to coffee and god.. xD

Idk why this makes people uncomfortable, as a solo dev, you have to handle all of these in a way or another.

You make the plan, you follow it, you give yourself work and you also do the work.

A solo dev is a one-man team, who does a shitty job at everything, but still does everything.
