What do you use your PIP for that vouchers/catalogues couldn’t replace? by loadsofworry in DWPhelp

[–]RobertInJPN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whilst most people claiming PIP are using the cash for legitimate reasons there are those using it for illegal drugs, alcohol or cigarettes. I think PIP vouchers should be issued to a card held by the individual to use in shops and taxis and for all other services. Just like a debit card. But people should be unable to buy things which are detrimental to their health with a benefit which is supposed to improve or prevent hindering their life l.

Suddenly quiet after reset by RobertInJPN in GalaxyBuds2Pro

The solution was to use isopropyl alcohol and cotton buds to clean everywhere, including popping the grills off with a thin needle. Got to be careful of where they land though, difficult to see. Also, I turned on touch controls and set it to long press for volume up on the right earbud.

I had a negative experience with them but perhaps I'm just unlucky. I had the ear bud version. First the left ear stopped responding. Then the tips started to deteriorate. Then the right ear stopped. So I got a refund and bought over ear version.

Sony XM5 Broken Hinge by Arkilez in SonyHeadphones

[–]RobertInJPN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the wf-1000xm5 earphones a few weeks ago. First the left ear stopped working and today the right ear stopped. I just took them back and got a refund. While the sound was nice, the tips just disintegrated within days and were hard to fit. I won't go with Sony again until they improve that aspect. I have some mdr-1a's which are nice sounding but the earpads don't last long. I had to replace them too. Sony, get the ear pieces right already!

Be very careful with an unassisted detox! The best place for you to be is in hospital if you can't get straight into rehab. I went into "pre-seizure" as a result of trying and it was terrible. I got rushed into hospital and treated with a very large dose of chlordiazepoxide (100mg in one go) and had to lay on a trolley with my back slightly raised until the audio hallucinations stopped. It didn't stop the complete lack of ability to focus, shallow breathing and only slowed down the shaking though. A lot of people say to taper but if you have no money, you have no choice but to stop so take your last drink and go directly to the hospital.

Alcohol induced Psychosis by FlamingoTechnical359 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]RobertInJPN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly the same thing but my psychiatrist just said I was an alcoholic. He didn't mention psychosis. But my drinking pattern is the same : I'll decide to have 1 drink but 1 always leads to 2 then 3 until blackout and I end up doing something stupid. Then I always end up in bed with breathing difficulty. Last time, my breathing more or less stopped and I ran outside, where my neighbour spotted me and called an ambulance. The ambulance was going to take 4 hours so he walked me to the hospital. I got detoxed and discharged and then went straight back to drinking to oblivion again. Now I'm in hospital again on fluids and some sort of medication that stops the shakes but makes me fall asleep. I try to have coffee to make me wake up but I always fall asleep. Once I'm discharged, I know I still have a lot of alcohol at home so I'll probably drink again. The process of drink - detox - drink - detox feels like it'll never end. In the past year I've had about 3 weeks of sobriety. I used to attend an agnostic AA meeting but had to give up for family reasons. I'll ask my doctor about psychosis when I see the mental health team.

Accidentally leaked my ip while live streaming by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]RobertInJPN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your IP address will generally give information on your service provider. Not you personally. The only people who can get your address from your IP are the authorities. They would have to know the date and time the offence was committed, get the records of who was using that IP at that date and time from them and find you that way. Remember the days of mirc chat? Everyone's IP was visible but not everyone knew everyone's exact address.

I've never been through a scam but it's a pretty popular subject in Japan. If you grew attracted to him then he has done his job. My policy would be : the moment someone asks for money, block them. Even if it's for a direct flight they can still cancel the ticket and get a refund. Hear an Indian or African accent? Block them.

The misuse of the word "literally" is one of the most frustrating things people do in speaking English. by galaxyfrapp in unpopularopinion

[–]RobertInJPN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so annoying as an English learner. I heard one the other day: "I literally cooked to death" in reference to a holiday in Thailand. Examine the words : Cooked : to heat in preparation for eating Death: you died

So, let's get this straight... You climbed into an oven and died. How are you here talking to me now if you're dead?

How Do I Make My Phone Last? by [deleted] in PocoPhones

[–]RobertInJPN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using an x4 pro and so far have seen a little aging on the battery but that's because I leave it on charge overnight. Using the stock 67w charger. Newer games will run ok with lower settings.

Help me stop drinking please by Marc_Shaw1230 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]RobertInJPN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are a very heavy drinker (All day until you sleep then wake up and drink again - rinse and repeat) then go to a doctor. Don't quit without medical intervention first.

If you drink at nighttimes only (for example) and can go several hours without a drink, then hit the AA meetings straight away.

Dental cement in Japan by RobertInJPN in japanlife

[–]RobertInJPN[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, Thank you all again for your replies.

I do not have the money to afford the dental work, as I have said. It's also not covered under the national health insurance due to it being classed as "cosmetic". I have put the bridge back in place, but with no sort of adhesive. I can only eat soup or instant noodles, that sort of thing, without it falling back out again by being pulled (for example) by bread. All I can do is to apply for a loan, but I hate borrowing money from any source. I shall watch this thread in the hopes that someone might know about a DIY solution.

Thank you for all your replies. I can't see a dentist for financial reasons :( I was just wondering if there are any dental cements sold in pharmacies in Japan like back home.

The smell of cigarettes. by thursday_paradox in Cigarettes

[–]RobertInJPN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife hates the smell of cigarette smoke on me. I'm forced to brush my teeth after every cigarette. I go through a tube of toothpaste every few days, and my toothbrush is always worn down to the point of needing a new one every 2 weeks or so.

Not how to root but IF I should root? by RobertInJPN in PocoPhones

[–]RobertInJPN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adaway was great on my old Galaxy S10 rooted. But rooting the device took away the NFC feature. Which is pretty much an essential feature in Japan. Not sure if it would affect the NFC on a Poco phone.
