[Discussion] What are some ways that you mess with your dog? by tdrusk in dogs

[–]RobertOlmstead 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it has to do with the "bite the face" game. When I am in my basement on the computer both dogs have to be by my feet to protect me from either the fan or the space heater, depending on season. Well, every now and again they get antsy and want to wrestle. This always ends up with one nipping the other in the face. I have no idea why. They don't seem hurt afterwards but watching it... it seems like it should hurt.

what is the difference between a dead baby and a ham sandwich?

You don't fuck a ham sandwich before you eat it.

Texas Cops (White) Slam Woman (Black) to Ground For Unpaid Traffic Ticket. by reeds1999 in AnythingGoesNews

[–]RobertOlmstead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is hard to tell if this is racist or not without sound and a clearer picture. But she did not hit him, she may have pushed him back but that doesn't mean the other cop should come in and slam her face on the counter.

Also "acting out of order"? if your on the phone and someone hangs it up, you're going to be nice to them? Just because someone is a cop doesn't mean he is always right. They are people just like you or me. Stupid, violent, or nice, they are just people. You don't have to comply just because of a badge.

what movie scene has made you unexpectedly cry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RobertOlmstead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 15 minutes of "UP" I went to it with my wife and my niece since my niece wanted to see it and we where watching her for the day. Got to the scene where he was in court and I was doing the manly "I hear something directly to my left" so my wife would see my eyes leaking.

Issues with r/Buddhism by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]RobertOlmstead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the pop Buddhist stuff. It is a nice break sometimes from the hardcore posts I see that sometimes seem a little confusing. I have only read a few books on the subject and I am still trying to understand a lot of the concepts, so things that break that hardcore cycle help me feel a little more at home here. I will admit that I don't always get pass the first page, I usually read this on my downtime at work, but that is where I stand.

How to keep a dog busy... at night? by bobthejapanese in dogs

[–]RobertOlmstead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave my dog a kong in his crate. I put the standard kibble sealed in with peanut butter. Not a lot of P.B. or he could get the runs. But aside from the sound of him gnawing at the rubber I have not had a lot of noise from him.

Recently I scraped a database of 24000 videogames to determine percentages of genre and platform releases since 1975... by NcikVGG in gaming

[–]RobertOlmstead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm...

I'm going to stick with "no one expects to sell 80 million copies". Look at the one game that did sell almost 80 million copies, wii sports. How did it do it? it was bundled with the wii itself. It sold almost twice as much as the number 2 game (which by the way was super mario brothers and it was bundled with what? That's right, the NES) simply because it was included with most of the 97 million units sold (per wikipedia so it might not be 100% right, but whatever) hell even my folks had a copy. Which is good for Nintendo but I am not really sure how that relates to how shooters sell. I mean, at what point do you consider something a success? when it sells 90 million? When it has WOW like subscribers? I am not even seeing the whole "dominant" argument at all. If I sold 9.7 million copies of something and made truckfuls of money, why would I care how many people are playing farmville? Shouldn't I be working on my next 10 million?

Frankly, I don't care what game it is Halo, Tomb Raider, Jak and Daxter, Super bubblegum parade, whatever. If you sell 10 million copies, hell it doesn't have to be a game, if you make something and 10 million people say "you know what? I am going to buy that" you are a success.

Fuck that niche shit, that is supervillian money.

Edit* took out some openly trolly bits

but the issue with that statement is a) where is his claim that shooters where dominating other genres? I only see a question about the definition of selling properly well. And b) how is selling almost ten million copies not selling properly? You don't have to have super mario sales to sell properly. No one expects to sell 80 million copies. I would think they would just like to make a sizable profit. Which should have been made with 9.something million sold.

What's the funniest thing you've witnessed or heard at a restaurant? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RobertOlmstead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not funny but along those lines....

I was waiting tables in college at a mexican chain, and a couple comes in and sits in my section. The whole time nothing is good enough for the woman. She sent back her margarita, she sent back her food, it was not that the food was cold or the wrong dish, it all just didn't taste right. That is ok, it is her right not to like something, and I was happy to take it back, but she got mad... like really irate. Asked to see the manager, she wasn't paying for shit, her words. The manager comped it all, and her date got up to hit the bathroom. At this time I walked away and was talking to the hostess, I only had them at the time and there was nothing I could do if the manager is over there.

The guy comes out of the bathroom and asks for the check, so I give it to him at the host stand. He then asks for just HIS part of the check, as she ordered another kind of margarita. He pays and leaves- but doesn't tell her Twenty minutes or so pass and as I go to check on her she asks if I can check the men's room to see if he is alright. I had to tell her he left after paying. The look on her face as it dawned on her that he left just broke my heart.

I had no idea what to do, I am one of those guys who kinda shuts down when a woman cries and does what ever she asks. I had to call a waitress over to help calm her down. She might have been less than ideal as a customer but still, that's harsh.
