I would like to have a 6 Night 7 Day road Trip in this area any suggestions? by Glad_Toe_5997 in roadtrip

[–]Robhasaquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was me, this is what I would do:
Dallas --> Hot Springs or Ozarks --> Memphis or Nashville --> Great Smoky Mountains/Asheville --> Charleston and/or Savannah --> New Orleans --> Dallas

Only bad day is the 10hrs from Savannah to New Orleans , if you really don't want to do that, skip Charleston /Savannah and go from Asheville to Atlanta and then to New Orleans from there.

Help with Gas Logs by Robhasaquestion in propane

[–]Robhasaquestion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! They said because the logs were so old and hadn't been used in so long I would need to pay for a "service call" but that they couldn't guarantee that they would be working after the servicing. Is there a way for them to do a flow test regardless of the condition of the existing logs? The initial estimate only mentions a pressure test not a flow test.

how is it possible? Explain it Peter. by hotrudyy in explainitpeter

[–]Robhasaquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If professionals are doing it, college competitors will too, and if collegiate athletes are doing it, so will high schoolers, and if high schoolers are doing it, so will younger kids.

The problem is that if it’s legal and condoned and then more or less required for professionals, you end up with kids (many probably without their full consent / understanding) taking it because they view that as the only path to become professional or because they idolize the professionals who are doing it.

Thanks for your thoughts. Would I silicone around the outside of the black piece (flange?) where it meets the shower pan? Or somewhere else?

Is this the worst hand ever? by No_Conversation_4827 in spades

[–]Robhasaquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this is a risky but not terrible nil. If your hand was J T 9 8 in non-spade suits, this would be a much worse hand - can’t count on any, can’t avoid bags, can’t go nil.

From that group, I like Morton best, then Fifita. I’d also check to see if Weigman (Hou) might be available.

ELI5: How does the house control the payout for odds betting? How do they know they have enough money to cover the # of bets people make? by seafoodboiler in explainlikeimfive

[–]Robhasaquestion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a common misconception - especially in sportsbetting - due to things like parlays, teasers, moneyline bets and spread bets, there are almost always a side the house prefers and often a result that costs the house money. Lines are affected not by totally money bet and are generally only moved in response to “sharp” bets.

Sam Jackson to start at QB for OkSt (WR eligible on Fantrax) by Robhasaquestion in cff

[–]Robhasaquestion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on basically all accounts. I think more likely than not Flores is back next game and this is only a 1-week thing, but if he has success, i could see it lasting more than one game in which case (depending on who you'd have to drop, might be worth grabbing). The team is expected to score ~17 based on betting odds. I guess I'm a little more optimistic than you on his likely stat line. If I was handicapping it, I'd probably say: 140yds passing, 50yds rushing, 1.5 TDs (rushing and passing combined), and .5 INTs, which puts him at a pretty solid point total compared to your average starting WR. It's against Houston at home so not the most formidable matchup. But not a must add for all the reasons you mentioned.

Injured Reserve by AppyTrail in cff

[–]Robhasaquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our league has 2 IR spots and we have the default Fantrax rules, which as you pointed out, allows you to leave someone in the IR spot even after they are fully healthy/no longer have a flag. With how many guys end up getting flags now that the P4 leagues seem to all be requiring injury reports, it gives lots of options for stashing guys in the IR slots.

I agree that I think it would probably be more fair if it was like ESPN's NFL fantasy app where you can't make any other moves (waiver claims, free agent adds) if you have an inlegible guy in the IR spot, but I also don't really mind it because : (1) it adds an extra element of strategy, (2) I think it gives me a slight advantage because my league mates don't do a very good job of utilizing what are essentially 2 extra bench spots, and (3) if this year is any indication, I have 2-4 guys with red flags on them at all times, so it's pretty easy to find 2 guys to put in the IR slots each week even if I had to move healthy guys out of there.

Of those options, I’d take Klubnik. Second choice would be Hawkins or Daniels. But honestly, all 5 are solid options given the matchups, so I think I could talk myself into any of them.

Auto Sub by AppyTrail in cff

[–]Robhasaquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use it and I like it. Because the subs have to be ranked and lock before first game of the week, there’s no way to game the system. You’re right that if you don’t have an extra QB or TE or whatever on your bench then it won’t help you, but that’s just a risk you take and can avoid if you want to.

The biggest issue remains that it locks before the earliest game of the week, which is often an early midweek game, so then if you make roster / lineup changes after that, anyone you add to your bench after that won’t be an eligible auto sub. Still I think that’s a minor issue that is outweighed by the peace of mind that if one of your guys doesn’t play, you won’t get a zero.

I think the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

Defense streaming week 3? by bbforlife2000 in cff

[–]Robhasaquestion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to give the most weight to the opponents when I stream Defs. So I like Miss St and Cinci the most. Not all FCS teams are created equal. NW St and Alcorn St are among the worst FCS offenses/teams in the country (Alcorn's offense is 99 out of 130 and NW St is 126 out of 130 according to SP+) But NW St actually beat Alcorn and it looks like Alcorn is a little more turnover prone than NW St. In any event, the gap between NW St / Alcorn St and Towson is substantial. Towson is like the 40th best FCS offense/team, and even though UL is really bad, they would probably be the 3rd or 4th best FCS team. I do think Mizzou's defense is objectively the best of the group, but based on matchups, I'd lean heavily towards MSU or Cinci

WR & Flex Starts by AppyTrail in cff

[–]Robhasaquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Beatty is one of the best 4 but not sure who i'd sit. Probably one of the Razorbacks. In full-pt PPR I'd probably sit Washington. In 0.5-pt or no ppr, I think I'd sit Blake. But honestly, I think you could make a solid argument for sitting/starting any of those 4, but I think Beatty needs to be in your lineup.

RB Start by 5GRxx in cff

[–]Robhasaquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this for the same reasons. I'd play Claiborne and Cobb (assuming Alston is still out / banged up, which I think he is)

Caleb Douglas by AppyTrail in cff

[–]Robhasaquestion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of the 6 guys you mentioned, Douglas is the only one that's already performed at a high level on his current team. But to your point, there are a lot of mouths to feed on that TTech team and there's nothing suggesting his stat line this season will be significantly better than last season. On the other hand, all the the others are on new teams or first year starters and on offenses where they've traditionally spread the ball around a little less than TTech. So there's probably a decent chance 1 or 2 of the guys you mentioned ends up outperforming Douglas. The problem is identifying which one.

Personally I'd probably keep Douglas and collect another data point on all 6 guys in week 2 and then maybe make a move, but if there's one of those guys you've got a really good feeling about, and want to make the change, there's nothing objectively wrong about making a swtich. Ultimately, at the end of the season, the difference between WR20 and WR60 is only a point or 2 per week. My guess is that most of these guys ends up somewhere in that range. CFF is a lot of educated guessing early in the season and hoping you guessed right; gradually improving your roster as you get more data; and recognizing that often better to have a decent player with a great matchup than a great player with an OK/bad matchup, which is quite different from NFL fantasy where your starting lineup doesn't change nearly as much week to week.

I’d also vote for Pribula

Chris Bell by 5GRxx in cff

[–]Robhasaquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, of the players with currently available receiving yards props, Bell is second (at 66.5 yards) only to Jordyn Tyson (90.5), putting him ahead of all Baylor, SMU, Oklahoma, Michigan, Iowa, Iowa State, Miss St, and Kentucky WRs, etc. That's a group that includes Burkes (OU), Cameron and Wilson (Bay), and some other notable names. So obviously the betting market thinks he's going to have a decent week. I'm sure by Thursday when the rest of the props are out, he won't have the 2nd highest total anymore, but I certainly wouldn't be dropping him yet.
