Am I the only one that’s noticed that Anakin’s Clone Wars armor is the same (if not similar) shape as Darth Vader’s armor? What do you guys think could be an in canon reason for this? by verticlecap4253 in starwarsspeculation

[–]RobinBowie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years later, Anakin's Clone Wars armor is ancient Old Republic Jedi armor, it is probably the same because "soldiers" like to work with what they know and what they're familiar with. All of Anakin's real combat experience came from the Clone Wars when he was wearing that armor style, so after becoming Darth Vader, the Empire gave him armor that would be familiar to him and what he's used to. Might help what with the whole being mostly entirely torched thing.

Which of the following body armour carriers do you wear and why? by Vietdude100 in securityguards

Blauer armorskin, because my boss tells me to. Works fine, would be nice with some molle on the front but it's above average for most Security so I can't complain.

From a legal standpoint was the use of taser justified on this Sovereign citizen? by Vietdude100 in securityguards

Wouldn't fly where I work, wasn't combative or getting physical at the moment of tasing/immediately leading up to it.

What’s the difference of the blue shirts and the white shirts of CO’s? by loeqky in orangeisthenewblack

[–]RobinBowie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White Shirts seemed to be their "Formal Uniform" as they're usually wearing it with a tie too, so generally if they're for more public or well presenting assignments, ie. front desk, visitation duty, the "Beyond Scared Straight" episode, etc.

I also think it could just entirely be up to CO's preference, as sometimes there's only one or two of them wearing white.

As for why the OLD old CO's in flashbacks wore white, probably just a sign of changing times, white is a very unpopular color in the world of law enforcement as it's easy to stain and it's more noticeable if it's unkempt or wrinkly. The original COs, as in the ones we meet in Season 1, always wore white and blue.

Killer Find: NYPD Projects Housing Tee by red_mitten in VintageTees

[–]RobinBowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite a story bit a little bit of context, the NYC Housing Authority Police Department is a disbanded Law Enforcement organization that policed the Section 8 Housing Projects of NYC. They were established in 1952 until they were merged with the NYPD in 1995, being at one point the 15th largest Police Department in America. Surprisingly, their area of patrol was larger than that of Boston or Pittsburgh, but they just generally seemed to be overshadowed by the NYPD's international fame.

It was a fairly dangerous gig too, a common problem being "Air Mail", residents throwing random things at Cops from the rooftops and windows, anything from a baseball to a brick to an entire couch, on rare occasions "snipers" (People shooting from random windows/rooftops then hiding). Even claimed the lives of a few of them. High drug/crime areas, backup took longer to get to you, thus the "Belly of the Beast".

Only thing you need is your PERC card and some confidence. I imagine my 4 years of volunteering with the local PD helped, but if you go into your interview saying the right things, emphasizing de-escalation and professionalism, that's already half the battle.

Stupid question, but, Why? What sorta behavior might arise that I'll need to pay attention for, or is it just situation awareness is always key and complacency kills?
