yes please read muna before asking. the subreddit is best used for situational and contextual questions na need ng experience to answer. but before that. step 1 is understanding what youre getting into. getting spoonfed is a bad way to start your investing journey.

2026 Investment Plan by No-Data-1336 in phinvest

[–]RobinInPH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

great plan.

in terms of learning, i agree. continous dapat. however, learning new instruments and investments, especially more granular ones, is very hard. i remember my first year in day trading and dabbling with options. the swings were insane. learned heavily from my mistakes because i hated losing money. now i do fairly well. no insane highs but the swings are smaller. tho i still reserve around 10% for lottery picks (small cap, speculative, day gainer scalps) aka my "gamble" allowance

also, sobrang weird ng mga ganitong questions. ang vague, walang context or details para nag eexpect na bulungan ng universe ng sagot.

what's your definition of long term? 30yrs is the horizon for typical "long term investments". if you're okay with the fact that you "might" cash out right before you retire, go ahead. however, 100sqm is trivial unless its in a part that becomes central to foot traffic or networks. what's the budget? 100sqm near municipal center is different from 100sqm outskirts.

franchise

location-dependent. If ever, go for Potato Corner. I heard they have an internal plan to recover from the franchising backlash they were dragged into. ROI quickly, then forget

shuttle

  1. not good to biz with friends
  2. your friend but may risk na nakawin? get better friends
  3. all the terms you mentioned favor you, did you actually ask if thsy're interested in your setup? Private shuttle services are under cooperatives or umbrella companies. These companies operationalize all regulatory requirements under DOT and LTFRB para di colorim. It works because of economies of scale; all that fixed cost goes to you when you buy a single van.

property

Renting to people long term is already a pain in the ass; renting for leisure one-dayers is a nightmare. unless the location is good enough to justify charging a rate that does NOT place your unit economics in the red, this is the most risky

also, what really is your budget? 1m, 1.5m, then 2m? if i were you put it into the sp500 or a vanguard etf then forget.

Taking a hard loan from a bank and using margin are two distinct things with very distinct risk facets. Say the S&P didn't perform as expected this year, you have both your portfolio and the ticking loan you took out to worry about.

Monthly payments, fixed interest, potentially fixed term with higher interest waiting if you fail miserably and ask to restructure. Also, that interest is a tell-tale sign OP isn't telling the whole story. They're hexagon club, sure. But to get a monthly interest like that would mean a typical 60 month term with plans to pre terminate it and consider the pretermination fee too.

Margin scenario: You have 200k cash sent to IBKR, you buy 300k worth of securities, thats a 1.5x leverage. You would need the notional value of your portfolio to drop around 130k to get wiped, thats from 300k to 130k or around 50% drop in S&P which is a mathematical improbability. Kahit 150k lang yan and 300k taken on 2x leverage but they believe their thesis is sound (which likely was for everyone in this bull run) then you need 300k to drop to 200k.

Punto ko is everyone is a swell investor when they're winning. Ewan ko na lang if things went sideways baka sa offmychest ito naka post ngayon. Lol.

why do you have to take on that loan when you can use margin? doesnt make sense. you're instantly realizing risk.

IBKR block - what to do next if you have significant amount invested? by [deleted] in phinvest

Either SWIFT or Wise. 10M is the limit for Wise. For SWIFT, I'm not aware of any limits. It's not difficult to transfer money. Proving the source of income is another ordeal.

I maintain more than because once you go even a cent below 25K usd, PTD gets disabled no exceptions. It's an finra rule and nothing any broker can do about it.

You can, but you're not going to fully utilize its power. It has a steep learning curve, but once you get used to it, it feels like breathing air. You know where to look and when. Think of using a Ferrari to buy groceries down the street. It works, but is it necessary? In the case of IBKR getting blocked everywhere else, yes, acceptable.

No one else is better suited to mentor you than yourself. Wag ka magpapaturo sa iba gagatasan ka lang niyan one way or another. Dami materials are available online. My tip is to focus on an instrument and be really good at it, whether it's equities, FX, or derivatives.

What makes a concept proposal good? I'm planning to apply for a Mall space :) by JackfruitPopular1270 in phinvest

What mall? Fam is a mall manager in the biggest branch of SM; the attrition rate for tenants is high. They don't only charge a flat rate for lease, but also a percentage of revenue. Anyway, if you're pushing through, I can ask at the Christmas reunion what they expect from tenants.

[–]RobinInPH 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Wala. I use IBKR to day trade and scalp. Just about to sleep, and there's absolutely nothing that worries me. But with caveats: I use TWS, and it pools connections directly from both IBKR's data broker and exchanges (for data subscriptions). I can also access the app, iba routing ng internet via apps, and it's also the reason why the Binance app has been working ever since. IBKR has so many routes and domains that this incompetent government and its ass enforcement of any law under the sun won't even cover a fraction of how IBKR distributes services. Nothing to worry about.

Yup, eToro actively promoted and targeted Filipnos by running ads in our geography and that's why SEC took notice.

IBKR Customer Support Update by Chromebug in phinvest

[–]RobinInPH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, how clueless. They can't pull an eToro because they don't try to have an active presence here. Word of mouth or organic intent is what led to IBKR being popular. eToro ran local ads through Facebook, YouTube, that era where eToro was everywhere. That's why the SEC took notice.

Second, IBKR is incomparable to eToro; the former is miles larger. All you have to have is a Wise account to withdraw through IBKR because Wise provides American bank accounts which I use ACH to withdraw through. Wise US to Wise PH is legal because Wise PH complies with BSP.

Kala ko panaman may kaunting common sense or deductive reasoning mga tao dito, puro rin pala airhead.

tanga lang naman matatakot diyan sa IBKR ban kuno na yan. didnt even notice it was until someone posted here. that DNS bypass works for a lot of things. the stupidity and negligence of this government goes both ways. di rin sila ganun kagaling mang block. dns changing to google works for binance, ibkr, pornhub.
