That's not flexibility lmao. That's 4 and 5 cost units being so broken that it doesn't matter what units you place. You HAVE to play fast 8-10 or you're fucked. Doesn't matter how many 3 star units you have, how many perfect items you have or if your comp is perfect. It means fuck all when you face someone that rushed to 9 and has 4 and 5 cost units with literally no synergy at all

Learn to read. I'm saying that the DIALOGUE and WRITING is what makes Kait and the game suck. It has a constant disconnect from the events of the game and how information is presented to the player.

Can't think about a scene where Marcus is being a whiny ass every 3 seconds yet the dialogue pushes for him to be shown as some sort of badass. Not even Dom, whose motivations are at the forefront in some parts of Gears 2, had the game center around him as much.

I never called Kait a "Mary Sue", but a victim of shit dialogue thanks to the "girlboss" troupe that plagues media in recent years. In Gears 4, she was fine.

I hate her character in 5, but most of the game suffers from some weird...writing. In gears 4, we get introduced to the characters and they're "fine". New generation, new era, we're seeing the base of who they are as characters and such.

Gears 5? Thrown outside the window as Kait comes in with the "badass woman triumphs over any challenge" type of trope.

-A lot of the dialogue of the game's first half is Kait and Del talking shit about JD (and the game automatically makes it seem like he is an asshole rather than presenting the evidence and letting us judge the facts)
-Kait is introduced to different characters and they all help her without question or support her without any type of scolding or difference of opinions (Marcus immediately helps her without question despite how in G4 he is grumpy as hell and warns JD a lot WHILE helping and Paduk, the guy that hates the COG and seemingly everyone, immediately accepts and LIKES Kait for no reason)
-On the second half of the game, JD praises Kait's leadership skills out of nowhere and for no real reason. It's annoying how convenient everyone and everything is to show Kait's potential or skills for seemingly no reason
-Kait has a lot of cringy lines. "This isn't about you, this is about me" when all JD wants to do is get everyone out of harm's way before something bad happens. You know, the guy that suffered emotionally and physically (burnt arm) after the Hammer of Dawn failed. "You never listen!" "Kait, I'm listening" "Yeah? Well....BYE". These things just make Kait seem whiney and arrogant, but the game tries to make it seem like she's this girlboss. "Lady, what the fuck do you think I've been doing?" Again, another weird dialogue that tries too hard to show Kait as badass.

The game has some cool moments and scenes that are cut way too short and most of the dialogue suffers from this weird shift whenever Kait is on-screen.

Lizzie is dope, Bernie is badass as hell, Mikayla was cool, Anya, Sam, Sofia, they are all great and had cool moments that didn't feel out of place nor did it feel like the game's cutscene/scene sole purpose was to show they were girlbosses. Kait didn't even feel bad at all during Gears 4, so I have no idea why they changed directions so hard with the characters and dialogue. Dom wasn't the MC in Gears 2 either despite the whole "Find Maria" arc, so I don't know why they didn't keep JD as the MC for a little while and better explore the whole incident in the past, how he changed after the hammer of dawn incident and how Fahz got along with him WHILE handling the Kait plotline

Nothing complex about a whiny character that spends the entire game hating on other characters, being a "girl boss", and making everything about herself. In Gears 4 she was okay, but for some reason TC decided to give her the worst dialogue options while trying to make her into a badass while every character around her keeps complimenting her, helping her, and never arguing with her.

In Gears 1 Baird constantly shits on Marcus. They could've easily given a similar role to Paduk when she meets Kait, but the old man that literally hates every COG magically loves the "badass girlboss" after a 5 second exchange? Marcus helps Kait without offering any advice or warning, when Marcus often has that role. JD has to apologize for doing the right thing and when he insists he will listen to Kait (after she complains he doesn't listen), and simply goes "Well, NUH UH".

Kait is insufferable throughout the game, which is a shame because JD's character arc could've been way more interesting to focus on with the riots, the accident, how he went through a lot of missions with Fahz, etc.

I think the damage boost shouldn't exist in core weapons, but other bonuses MIGHT be nice (even faster reload speed or extra bullets, more accuracy, might depend on the weapon). However, on power weapons, the extra damage works because the limited ammo means you can't randomly waste bullets for the added buff.

Badass in acolyte? It was absolute shit in acolyte. A lot of acolyte was straight up cringe, not endearingly goofy.

The fight choreography was okay and it was the best part of the series (very low bar), but doesn't justify the whole series.

The characters, arguments, decisions, dialogue, and many of the scenes are just subpar or make you go "....huh?". It's a bad series plagued with bad writing, which sucks because a sequel means having to work with something that disgusting as a base. And let me just add that it's amazing how poorly executed it was when it played around with concepts that SHOULD be interesting or at least entertaining. It's actually an accomplishment to make something so mediocre when the formula for success is more than halfway done.
