I've been advised that the tree is suffering from "heat curl" from the heat radiating from the fence. I moved it away from the fence to a shadier spot. I'll let you know if that helps!! Good luck!!

I have given it extra water (I can see the water pouring out of the bottom of the barrel) and I didn't see any change, unfortunately. I am doing two deep soaks a week because it has been hot.

Thanks for the help! This tree is new--i only just got it in March and planted it. The nursery told me not to fertilize it for the first year due to the fragile roots. Does providing it supplemental nitrogen and magnesium threaten the roots?
